Camshaft Timing Chain TENSIONER, Removing And Installing: Installing

NOTE:

If the tensioning element was removed from the chain tensioner, then the installation position must be noted: Hole in housing floor faces toward chain tensioner, piston faces toward tensioning rail.

Replace any bolts that were tightened with an additional turn.

-- Press the tensioning rails for the left or right camshaft timing chain tensioner inward in direction of -arrow- as far as the stop and secure the chain tensioner with a Locking PinT40071.

-- Insert the chain tensioner at the left cylinder head and install the camshaft timing chain as shown in the illustration.

-- Tighten the bolts -1- and -2-.

-- Insert the chain tensioner at the right cylinder head and install the camshaft timing chain as shown in the illustration.

-- Tighten the bolts -1- and -2-.

Installation is performed in reverse order of removal, while noting the following:

-- Position the camshaft timing chain on the camshafts, refer to CAMSHAFT TIMING CHAIN, REMOVING FROM CAMSHAFTS .
