Rear Brake Caliper, Replacing : Installing

WARNING: This page does not describe the selected car, but rather 9 other vehicles, including the 2015 Audi S7, 2015 Audi RS 7, 2015 Audi A7 Quattro, 2014 Audi S7, and 2014 Audi RS 7. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

Use new screws -5-.

-- Install the brake line in the brake caliper.

Make sure the brake pads fit correctly.

-- Push the brake caliper over the installed brake pads.

-- Secure the brake caliper with new bolts -5-.

NOTE: Connect the electromechanical parking brake connector only after tightening the bolts.

Make sure the brake hose is routed correctly. Make sure the brake hose is not blocked, bent or rubbing against the vehicle.

-- Connect the connector for the electromechanical parking brake.

-- Clip the electrical wires into the bracket on the stub axle carrier.

NOTE: Make sure the wire are installed correctly in the brackets on the stub axle carrier so that they can come out of the brackets on their own.

-- Connect the connector -2- for the brake pad wear display wire.

-- Remove the Brake Pedal Actuator VAG 1869/2.

-- Only bleed the brakes on the wheel which the brake caliper and the brake line was separated.

NOTE: Only bleed the brakes on the wheel which the brake caliper and the brake line was separated. If the brake pedal still feels "soft", completely bleed the brakes. Refer to BRAKE SYSTEM, BLEEDING .

-- Refer to BRAKE SYSTEM, BLEEDING

-- Install the wheels.

Wheel bolt tightening specifications. Refer to Wheels, Tires, Wheel Alignment .

-- Lower the vehicle.

If the brake pads are replaced, start the corresponding program in Guided Functions on the Vehicle Diagnostic Tester.

-- Connect the Vehicle Diagnostic Tester to the vehicle data link connector with the ignition switched off.

NOTE:

Switch the ignition on.

The parking brake is released.

Coding check and reported if necessary.

DTC memory interrogated, errors shown corrected and DTC memory erased.

-- Start the program in Guided Functions.

WARNING:

Make sure the brakes are working correctly before driving the vehicle for the first time.

After installing, press the brake pedal several times firmly to properly seat brake pads in their normal operating position.

Check brake fluid level, and fill if necessary.
