Rear Brake Pads, Removing And Installing : Removing
- The parking brake is released.
When removing, mark brake pads that will be used again. Install in the same position, otherwise braking effect will be uneven.
Do not disconnect the connectors from the parking brake motors.
If the brake pads are replaced, use the Vehicle Diagnostic Tester to press back the parking brake pistons.
-- Remove the affected rear wheel. Refer to Wheels, Tires, Wheel Alignment .
If the brake pads are replaced, start the corresponding program in Guided Functions on the Vehicle Diagnostic Tester.
-- Connect the Vehicle Diagnostic Tester to the vehicle data link connector with the ignition switched off.
Switch the ignition on.
The parking brake is released.
Coding check and reported if necessary.
DTC memory interrogated, errors shown corrected and DTC memory erased.
-- Start the program in Guided Functions.
Brake pads, replacing:
-- Move the brake piston back using the Vehicle Diagnostic Tester.
For all vehicles:
-- Remove the electrical connection for the electromechanical parking brake from the retainer.
-- Free up the brake hose -2- and the wiring harness -3- from the bracket -1-.
-- Disconnect the brake pad wear sensor connector -1-.
-- Release the connector -2- to the brake pad wear sensor from its bracket -arrow B- while turning it 90° at the same time -arrow A-.
-- Remove the dust cap -3- from the bleed screw and free up the electrical wire.
-- Remove the bolts -arrows- by counter-holding the guide pins -1 and 2-.
-- Remove the brake caliper and guide out the electrical wire for the brake pad wear sensor at the same time.
- Do not let the brake caliper hang on the brake hose. Do not support the weight with the brake hose.
- Replace the brake hose if damaged.
- Do not actuate the brakes or the electromechanical parking brake when the brake caliper is removed.
-- Hang the brake caliper on the body using a suitable wire.
