Brake Pedal, Removing And Installing, Vehicles With Automatic Transmission: Removing

-- Move the seat all the way back as far as it will go.

-- Turn off the ignition.

-- Remove the storage compartment under the instrument panel on the driver side. Refer to Interior Equipment .

-- Remove the footwell vent.

-- Disconnect the connector to the Brake Lamp Switch -F-.

-- Remove the Brake Lamp Switch -F-. Refer to Brake Lamp Switch -F-, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Disconnect brake pedal from brake booster. Refer to BRAKE PEDAL AND BRAKE BOOSTER, DISCONNECTING AND CONNECTING .

NOTE: If possible, leave the brake pedal stop installed; it could break the mount for the Brake Lamp Switch -F- if the brake pedal is released too quickly.

-- Remove the bolt -3-.

NOTE: Remove both clips -1-.

-- Remove both clips from the bolt.

-- Remove the bolt -5- from the brake pedal -2- and bracket -4-.

-- Remove brake pedal.

WARNING: If possible, leave the brake pedal stop installed; it could break the mount for the Brake Lamp Switch -F- if the brake pedal is released too quickly.
