Brake Fluid Reservoir, Removing And Installing: Removing

WARNING:

When working with brake fluid, observe relevant safety precautions and notes. Refer to BRAKE FLUID .

-- Remove the plenum chamber cover. Refer to Body Front .

-- Remove the tower brace -1- at the bolts -2 through 4-.

-- Disconnect the connectors from the engine control module and move them to the side.

Vehicles with a clutch:

-- Clamp the clutch master cylinder supply hose with Hose Clamps up to 25 mm Diameter3094.

-- Remove the clutch master cylinder supply hose

For all vehicles:

-- Disconnect the connector from the Brake Fluid Level Warning Switch -F34-.

-- Siphon as much brake fluid as possible using the Brake Charger/Bleeder Unit VAS5234 and Brake Charger/Bleeder Unit - AdapterVAS5234/1 from the brake fluid reservoir.

WARNING:

Brake fluid must never come into contact with fluids containing mineral oils (oil, gas, cleaning solutions). Mineral oil damages the sealing plugs and boots of the brake system.
Brake fluid is poisonous. NEVER siphon brake fluid with your mouth! Also due to its corrosive effect, brake fluid must not come into contact with paintwork.
Extract brake fluid cannot be used again.
Follow all disposal regulations.

-- To protect against escaping brake fluid, place enough lint-free cloths in the area below the master brake cylinder.

-- Remove the cap over the brake fluid reservoir.

NOTE:

The cap over the brake fluid reservoir is installed only on certain models.

-- Remove the securing pin -3- from the brake fluid reservoir and brake master cylinder.

-- Remove the brake fluid reservoir.
