Crankshaft Seal, Replacing, Belt Pulley Side

Special Tools And Workshop Equipment Required 

• Puller - Crankshaft Seal T40019
• Assembly Tool T40048A with Seal Installer - Crankshaft T40048/8
• M8 x 55 mm bolt, quantity: 2

Procedure

-- Remove the vibration damper, refer to VIBRATION DAMPER, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Position the inner part of the Puller - Crankshaft Seal T40019 flush with outer part and secure it with the knurled screw.

-- Lubricate the seal remover threaded head, position it, and then install it into the shaft seal as far as possible using strong force.

-- Loosen the knurled screw and turn the inner portion against the crankshaft until the seal is pulled out.

-- Secure the seal remover in a vise at the flat spots and remove the seal using pliers.

-- Clean the running and sealing surface.

-- Place the Assembly Device T40048/1 onto the Pull Sleeve T40048/2 and slide the shaft seal -1- onto the pull sleeve.

-- Remove the assembly device.

-- Place the Pull Sleeve T40048/2 on the crankshaft and slide the shaft seal -1- into the sealing surface on the cylinder block.

-- Position the Seal Installer - Crankshaft T40048/8 on the crankshaft with two M8 x 55 mm bolts -arrows-.

-- Install bolts by hand.

-- Tighten the bolts ¹ /₂ turn each, alternating from side to side in order to press the shaft seal all the way in.

Installation is performed in reverse order of removal, while noting the following:

-- Install the vibration damper, refer to VIBRATION DAMPER, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
