Flange/Driveshaft Seal, Rear Final Drive 0BE: Removing

The rear final drive is installed

-- Separate the exhaust system at the clamping sleeves -1 and 2-.

-- Remove rear portion of exhaust system. Refer to [For engine(s) CEUC,CRDB] Exhaust System, Emission Controls .

NOTE:

A second technician will be needed to help remove the rear section of the exhaust system.

-- Open the gear oil drain plug -arrow- and let approximately 300 ml gear oil drain out.

-- Install and tighten the new drain plug -arrow-. Tightening specification -item 16- REAR FINAL DRIVE OVERVIEW => List Item:Gear Oil Drain Plug.

-- Remove the driveshaft from the rear final drive. Refer to DRIVESHAFT, REMOVING FROM REAR FINAL DRIVE AND INSTALLING .

-- Guide the driveshaft between the fuel tank and the rear subframe downward and tie it to the side.

-- Remove any high temperature grease inside the flange/driveshaft.

-- Remove the locking ring -arrow-.

-- Mark the position of the flange/driveshaft -B- to the pinion -A- -arrow-.

NOTE:

This mark -arrow- is needed so that the color dot -C- on the outside of the flange remains in its earlier position.

Only by doing this can the smallest imbalance possible inside the rear final drive be guaranteed.

-- Remove the flange/driveshaft.

For example, two-arm puller Kukko 20-10

-- Place an absorbent cloth -A- under the final drive on the subframe.

-- Puncture the metal cover on the shaft seal -A- in direction of the -arrow- using a scriber -B-.

-- Insert a screw -arrow- into this opening -A-.
