Plenum Chamber Water Drain, Cleaning

Procedure

-- Remove the plenum chamber cover, refer to Bulkhead .

NOTE:

To check the water drains that are difficult to reach, use a commercially available and illuminated endoscope, for example. It is best to use one that has a flexible waterproof head.

Use a commercially available flexible gripping tool to clean, for example coarse dirt from difficult to reach water drains. Then wash out the any remaining contaminates.

Driver Side

-- Remove the plenum chamber E-box, refer to PLENUM CHAMBER E-BOX, WIRE JUNCTION, FUSE HOLDER AND BATTERY OVERVIEW .

-- Check the water drains -arrows- for debris.

The water must be able to be drained.

-- Remove the water drain debris.

-- Check the grommet -1- with the valve for debris and functionality.

The grommet valve must not be stuck or blocked as a result of debris.

-- Clean dirty or sticky grommet valves.

NOTE:

Passenger Side

The water must be able to be drained.

-- Remove the water drain debris.

-- Check the grommet -1- with the valve for debris and functionality.

The grommet valve must not be stuck or blocked as a result of debris.

-- Clean dirty or sticky grommet valves.

Continuation for Both Side of the Vehicle

-- If a grommet -2- is damaged, it must be replaced. To replace the grommet, remove the grommet out of the opening in the body -1-.

-- Insert the new grommet into the opening in the body and check the water drainage.

The grommet valve must not stick and the water must be able to drain.

NOTE:

If the water near the grommet does not drain, remove the heat shield for the upper tunnel and clean the area near the grommet, refer to OVERVIEW - HEAT SHIELD .
