-- Remove the tower brace, refer to TOWER BRACE, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Discharge the refrigerant circuit, refer to REFRIGERANT CIRCUIT, DISCHARGING WITH SERVICE STATION or REFRIGERANT CIRCUIT, DISCHARGING WITH SERVICE STATION .

-- If necessary, remove the plenum chamber bulkhead, refer to Bulkhead .

NOTE:

There are different versions of the plenum chamber bulkhead depending on the engine. Depending on the version of the plenum chamber bulkhead (from the engine) the space between the plenum chamber bulkhead and the connection for the inner heat exchanger on the expansion valve is too small to remove the bolts -3 and 4- and to remove the inner heat exchanger from the expansion valve with the plenum chamber bulkhead installed (for example on vehicles with 6-cylinder TDI engine with two turbochargers).

-- Remove the refrigerant lines from the inner heat exchanger, refer to REFRIGERANT LINES WITH INNER HEAT EXCHANGER, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Free up the inner heat exchanger -1- at the bracket by releasing the clip -5- -arrow- and opening.

-- Remove the bolts -3 and 4-.

-- Disconnect the refrigerant line -2- with the inner heat exchanger from the expansion valve.

-- Seal the open lines and connections with clean plugs from the Engine Bung Set VAS 6122.

-- Remove the bolts -A-.
