Fuel Tank, Removing And Installing: Installing

Install in reverse order of removal. Note the following:

-- Check the GND wire for traces of oxidation on the connectors. Remove any oxidation if necessary.

-- Make sure the following connectors are secure:

Connector -2- for the GND connection on the threaded ring -1- of the fuel filler tube.
GND connector -6- on the fuel filler tube cover.

-- Attach the GND connection contact -4- to the hole in the fuel tank -3- and then install the spacer -5-.

WARNING:

Danger due to electrostatic charge.

After installing, check electrical connection on fuel filler neck metal ring to an empty spot on the body using an Ohm meter.

Specified value: approximately 0 Ω.

-- Check if the fuel lines are clipped onto the fuel tank.

-- Position the fuel tank with mounting strap and support plate on the underbody using the Engine and Gearbox Jack VAS 6931.

-- Make sure the fuel tank is positioned so that the filler tube can be guided into the opening of the body correctly.

-- Tighten the bolts -1 through 6- on the mounting strap and the support plate.

-- Install the right locking flange cover, refer to Figure.

-- Install the rear bench seat, refer to SEAT BENCH/SINGLE SEAT, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Vehicles with parking heater: Bleed the fuel line to the Metering Pump - V54- (fill it with fuel).
