-- Follow the guidelines for clean working conditions, refer to CLEAN WORKING CONDITIONS .
-- Remove the luggage compartment floor, refer to LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT FLOOR PANEL, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
A7 Sportback
-- Remove the rear shelf, refer to REAR SHELF, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
Vehicles with Folding Rear Seat Backrest
-- Fold the rear seat backrest forward.
A6 Sedan, A7 Sportback
-- Unclip -arrow- the cover -1- with the Trim Removal Wedge 3409 and remove it.
A6 Avant:
-- Unclip the locking flange cover -1- at the tabs -arrows- using the Trim Removal Wedge 3409 and remove it.
Continuation for All Vehicles
-- Cut through the sealing all the way around the locking flange cover using Window Cutter VAG 1561A and Window Cutter - L Blade (2 pc.) VAG 1561/22.
-- Remove the locking flange cover.
-- Repair any damaged painted surfaces.
-- Apply corrosion protection if necessary.
-- Remove the locking ring using the Wrench - Fuel Sending Unit T10202.
-- Remove the locking flange through the opening in the fuel tank.
-- Remove the seal through the opening in the fuel tank.
-- Reach through the opening in the fuel tank, press the releases -arrows- and unlock Fuel Level Sensor 2 -G169-.
-- Remove the Fuel Level Sensor 2 -G169- -1- upward from the mount and carefully remove it through the opening in the fuel tank.
Be careful not to bend the floater arm on the fuel level sensor when removing it.
