Fuel Tank, Removing And Installing: Installing

WARNING: This page does not describe the selected car, but rather 8 other vehicles, including the 2015 Audi RS 7, 2015 Audi A7 Quattro, 2014 Audi S7, 2014 Audi RS 7, and 2014 Audi A7 Quattro. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

Install in reverse order of removal. Note the following:

-- Check the ground wire for traces of oxidation on the connectors. Remove any oxidation if necessary.

WARNING:

Risk of explosion due to electrostatic charge.

  • After installing, check electrical connection on fuel filler neck metal ring to an empty spot on the body using an Ohm meter.
  • Specified value: approximately 0 Ω.

-- Make sure the following connectors are secure:

-- Attach the ground connection contact -4- to the hole in the fuel tank -3- and then install the spacer -5-.

WARNING:

Risk of explosion due to electrostatic charge.

  • After installing, check electrical connection on fuel filler neck metal ring to an empty spot on the body using an Ohm meter.
  • Specified value: approximately 0 Ω.

-- Make sure the fuel and vent line is attached to the fuel tank properly.

-- Position the fuel tank with mounting strap and support plate on the underbody using the Engine/Gearbox Jack VAG 1383A.

-- Make sure the fuel tank is positioned so that the filler tube can be guided into the opening of the body correctly.

-- Tighten the bolts -1 through 5- on the mounting strap and the support plate.

-- Clip the breather line from the bracket -arrow-.

-- Install the right locking flange cover, refer to Figure.

-- Install the rear bench seat, refer to SEAT BENCH/SINGLE SEAT, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Connect the battery. While doing so follow all steps after connecting the battery, refer to BATTERY, DISCONNECTING AND CONNECTING .

-- After installing a new or completely empty fuel tank, at least 5 liters (5.28 quarts) of fuel must be added before starting the engine.

NOTE:

Do not allow the fuel pump to run when the fuel tank is empty.
