Fuel Tank, Draining

Fuel Extraction Device VAS 5190A
Fuel Extraction - Adapter 1 VAS 5190/1

NOTE:

If the Fuel Extraction Device VAS 5190A has a suction hose with a mounted tip, then replace that with one that has a tip that screws on.

-- Remove the tip -1- from the fuel extraction hose for the VAS 5190A.

-- Install the Fuel Extraction - Adapter 1 VAS 5190/1 from the Fuel Extraction - Adapter Set VAS 5190 /10 on the suction hose.

Procedure

-- Follow all safety precautions, refer to SAFETY PRECAUTIONS .

-- Follow the guidelines for clean working conditions, refer to CLEAN WORKING CONDITIONS .

-- Move the right front seat all the way forward.

CAUTION:

Risk of damaging electronic components when disconnecting the battery.

Complete the steps for disconnecting the battery.

-- Disconnect the ground cable from the battery terminal, refer to BATTERY, DISCONNECTING AND CONNECTING .

WARNING:

Risk of explosion due to electrostatic charge.

Secure the Fuel Extraction Unit VAS 5190A ground wire to a bare area of the chassis.

-- Remove the rear bench seat, refer to SEAT BENCH/SINGLE SEAT, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Fold the insulation mat near the locking flange cover to the side.

-- Remove the bolts -arrows- and the locking flange cover.

WARNING:

There is a risk of injury because the fuel is under high pressure.

To reduce pressure in fuel system, lay a clean cloth around the connector and carefully loosen connector.

-- Remove the fuel line -1- from the locking flange. Disconnect the connector couplings, refer to CONNECTOR COUPLINGS, SEPARATING .

-- Connect the suction hose with the Fuel Extraction - Adapter 1 VAS 5190/1 from the sealing flange supply connection.

-- Discharge the fuel tank with the Fuel Extraction Device VAS 5190A through the sealing flange supply connection.

-- Install the right locking flange cover, refer to Figure.

-- Install the rear bench seat, refer to SEAT BENCH/SINGLE SEAT, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
