Radiator, Removing And Installing: Removing

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2015 Audi A7 Quattro and 2014 Audi A7 Quattro. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

-- Remove the front noise insulation, refer to NOISE INSULATION, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Remove the front impact member, refer to IMPACT MEMBER, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Remove the charge air cooler, refer to CHARGE AIR COOLER, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Place the Shop Crane - Drip Tray VAS 6208 under engine.

-- Remove the drain plug -1- and drain the coolant.

-- Disconnect the coolant hose from the radiator, to do this, lift the retaining clip -2-.

-- Open the clamp -arrow- and from the under left of the radiator remove the connection.

WARNING:

There is a risk of injury if the radiator fan turns on by itself.

  • Disconnect the connectors before working near the fan shroud.

Vehicles without Torque Support

-- Push the retainer back -arrow-, press the release down and disconnect the coolant fan connectors -1 and 2-, if applicable.

Vehicles with Torque Support

-- Disconnect the coolant fan connectors -1 and 2- to do this, push the clamp to the rear -arrow- and push the release down.

-- Remove the bolt -3- from the mount.

-- Remove the bolts -arrows- and air guide -1-.

-- Remove the bolts -arrows- and the air guide -2-.

NOTE:

Ignore item -1-.

-- Open the clamps -1 and 2- and remove the connection from the radiator.

-- Release the left and right radiator retaining pins and remove by pulling upward -arrows-.

-- Disconnect the retaining tabs -arrows A- and pull out left air duct -1- just a little -arrow B-.

Condenser with An Angled Connection for the Refrigerant Pipe:

-- Have a second technician release the retaining clamps -1- in the direction of -arrow A- and remove the condenser -2- upward out of the mounts on the radiator -B arrows-.

CAUTION:

There is a risk of damaging the condenser and refrigerant lines and hoses.

  • Do not stretch, kink or bend refrigerant lines and hoses.

-- Tip the condenser with the lines connected forward.

Condenser with An Straight Connection for the Refrigerant Pipe 

-- Remove the condenser, refer to CONDENSER, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

Continuation for All Vehicles

-- Remove the left and right bolt -1- and remove the radiator console with the radiator from the lock carrier -arrow-.

-- Remove the radiator.

-- Press the fan shroud left and right locking tabs at the same time -arrow- and remove the fan shroud upward from the radiator.
