Engine And Transmission, Separating, DSG Transmission: Procedure
- Engine/transmission assembly removed and placed on the Scissor Lift Table VAS 6131B.
-- Remove the connector -3- for the Oxygen Sensor 2 after Catalytic Converter -G131- from the bracket and disconnect it.
-- Remove the bolt -1- and the nuts -arrows- and then remove the left catalytic converter.
There is a risk of destroying the transmission control module (Mechatronic) with static discharge.
- Do not touch contacts in transmission connector with hands.
-- To discharge static electricity, touch the transmission housing (without wearing gloves).
-- Turn the twist lock counter-clockwise -arrow- and disconnect the connector from the transmission.
-- Free up the wiring harness on the transmission.
-- Loosen the clamp -1- and remove the coolant hose.
-- Remove the connector -1- for the Oxygen Sensor after Three Way Catalytic Converter -G130- from the bracket and disconnect it.
-- Remove the bolt -1- and the nuts -arrows- and then remove the right catalytic converter.
-- Lift the clamp -arrow- and remove the connection from the upper coolant pipe.
-- Remove the bolts -arrows- and remove the left drive axle heat shield.
-- Remove the left and right drive axles from the transmission flange shaft, refer to DRIVE AXLE, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
-- Remove the bolts -arrows-.
-- Loosen the clamp -1- and remove the ATF cooler from the right coolant pipe on the transmission.
-- Move the ATF cooler to the side.
-- Remove the lower cover -1- from the transmission in direction of -arrow-.
-- Insert the crankshaft socket T40058 guide pins as follows:
- The large diameter -arrow 1- faces the engine.
- The small diameter -arrow 2- faces the adapter.
-- Counterhold the crankshaft and loosen the drive plate bolts using Crankshaft Socket T40058 and a wrench.
-- Remove the 6 bolts -arrow- from the clutch module. Turn the crankshaft an additional 60° in the direction of engine rotation.
-- Equip the Scissor Lift Table VAS 6131B with the Scissor Lift Table - Audi Set VAS 6131/10 and Scissor Lift Table - A8 Set VAS 6131/11, and Scissor Lift Table - Q7 Set Articulated Joint Support VAS 6131/13-7 as follows:

-- Secure the articulated joint support VAS 6131/13-7 to the engine in threaded hole on the front to the right, as shown in the illustration.
-- Tighten the articulated joint support VAS 6131/13-7 to 20 Nm on the scissor lift table.
-- Attach the mounting elements from the Scissor Lift Table - Audi Set VAS 6131/10 and scissor lift table - A8 set - mounting VAS 6131/11-4 on the front of the transmission, as shown in illustration.
-- Turn the left and right spindles until the scissor lift table - A8 set - mountings VAS 6131/11-4 are firmly touching the transmission.
-- Attach mounting element base plates to Scissor Lift Table VAS 6131B and tighten to 20 Nm.
-- Remove the starter bolts -1- and -2-.
-- Press the starter off the transmission and leave it in the installation position.
-- Remove the remaining bolts -3 through 10- that attach the engine to the transmission.
-- Loosen the clamping screws -1- on sides of Scissor Lift Table VAS 6131B and pull the rear table top with the transmission toward rear in direction of -arrow-.
