Engine And Transmission, Separating, Audi S6/S7

Procedure

NOTE:

Ignore -items 2 and 3-.

-- Remove the connectors from the bracket, disconnect them and then free up the wires.

for Oxygen Sensor after Three Way Catalytic Converter -G130-

4 -

for Heated Oxygen Sensor 2 -G108-

-- Release the locking mechanism in direction of -arrows-, and free up the wires to disconnect and remove the connectors from one another and out of the mount:

NOTE:

The catalytic converter for the cylinder bank 1 (right) is on the left in the vehicle.

-- Remove the bolts -1- from the suspended mount for the catalytic converter.

NOTE:

Ignore item -2-.

-- Remove the nuts -arrows- from the cylinder bank 1 (right) and then remove the left catalytic converter from the vehicle.

-- Remove the bolt -arrow- from the suspended mount for the catalytic converter.

-- Remove the nuts -arrows- from the cylinder bank 2 (left) and then remove the right catalytic converter from the vehicle.

-- Remove the nuts -1- and bolt -2- and then remove the heat shield.

CAUTION:

There is a risk of destroying the transmission control module (Mechatronic) with static discharge.

  • Always "discharge" the static electricity. Do this by touching a grounded object, for example vehicle ground, the vehicle or the hoist.
  • Do not touch contacts in transmission connector with hands.

-- Turn the twist lock counter-clockwise in direction of -arrow- and disconnect the connector from the transmission.

-- Free up the wiring harness on the transmission.

-- Disconnect the connector in direction of -arrow- and free up the wire.

NOTE:

Ignore item -2-.

-- Loosen the clamp -1- and remove the coolant hose.

-- Fold the heat shield boot slightly upward.

-- Loosen the hose clamps -arrows- to remove the bolts -1, 2- and to remove the coolant hoses for the right coolant pipe from the transmission.

-- Remove the bolts -arrows-.

-- Loosen the clamp -1- and remove the ATF cooler from the right coolant pipe on the transmission.

-- Move the ATF cooler to the side.

-- Remove the left and right drive axles from the transmission flange shaft, refer to DRIVE AXLE, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Remove the lower cover -1- from the transmission in direction of -arrow-.

-- Position the Crankshaft Turning Tool T40272 onto the Wrench - 21 mm T40263.

-- Attach the adapter to the bolts on the vibration damper.

NOTE:

Ignore the notch on the Crankshaft Turning Tool T40272.

When mounting, turn the crankshaft only in the direction of engine rotation in direction of -arrow-.

-- Counterhold the crankshaft to loosen the dual mass flywheel bolts using the Crankshaft Turning Tool T40272 and the Wrench - 21 mm T40263.

-- Remove the 6 Dual Mass Flywheel bolts -arrow- while turning the crankshaft 60° further in the direction of engine rotation.

-- Equip the Scissor Lift Table VAS 6131B with the Scissor Lift Table - Audi Set VAS 6131/10 and Scissor Lift Table - A6 Set VAS 6131/12, and Scissor Lift Table - Q7 Set Articulated Joint Support VAS 6131/13-7 as follows:

NOTE:

The other attachments remain unchanged.

-- Secure the Scissor Lift Table - Q7 Set Articulated Joint Support VAS 6131/13-7 to the engine in the threaded hole with a M10 x 65 bolt on the front to the right, as shown in the illustration.

-- Tighten the Scissor Lift Table - Q7 Set Articulated Joint Support VAS 6131/13-7 to 20 Nm on the scissor lift table.

-- Attach the mounting elements from the Scissor Lift Table - Audi Set VAS 6131/10 and Scissor Lift Table - a8 Set - Mounting VAS 6131/11-4 on the front of the transmission, as shown in illustration.

-- Turn the left and right spindles until the Scissor Lift Table - A8 Set - Mountings VAS 6131/11-4 are firmly touching the transmission.

-- Attach mounting element base plates to Scissor Lift Table VAS 6131B and tighten to 20 Nm.

-- Remove the starter bolts -1- and -2-.

-- Press the starter off the transmission and leave it in the installation position.

-- Remove the remaining bolts -3 through 10- that attach the engine to the transmission.

NOTE:

Counterhold the nut next to the bolt -7-.

Ignore item -A-.

-- Loosen the clamping screws -1- on sides of Scissor Lift Table VAS 6131B and pull the rear table top with the transmission toward rear in direction of -arrow-.
