Overview - Muffler

- Bolt
- 20 Nm
- Suspended Mount
- Replace if damaged.
- Check pretension, refer to EXHAUST SYSTEM, INSTALLING WITHOUT TENSION .
- Center Muffler
- Original equipment as one unit with rear mufflers. For repairs, replace each separately
- for removal, remove the diagonal braces, refer to Fig 5
- Separating point, refer to EXHAUST PIPES/MUFFLERS, SEPARATING .
- Align the exhaust system free of tension, refer to EXHAUST SYSTEM, INSTALLING WITHOUT TENSION .
- Rear Muffler
- Original equipment as one unit with center muffler
- The center muffler and the rear muffler can be replaced individually if a repair is required.
- for removal, remove the diagonal braces, refer to Fig 5
- Separating point between the center and rear muffler, refer to EXHAUST PIPES/MUFFLERS, SEPARATING .
- Align the exhaust system free of tension, refer to EXHAUST SYSTEM, INSTALLING WITHOUT TENSION .

- Catalytic Converter
- Protect from shocks and impact stress
- Removing and installing:
- Vehicles with 7-speed DSG Transmission 0B5 left, refer to LEFT CATALYTIC CONVERTER, REMOVING AND INSTALLING, VEHICLES WITH DSG TRANSMISSION .
- Vehicles with 7-speed DSG Transmission 0B5 right, refer to RIGHT CATALYTIC CONVERTER, REMOVING AND INSTALLING, VEHICLES WITH DSG TRANSMISSION .
- Vehicles with an 8-speed automatic transmission 0BK, refer to CATALYTIC CONVERTERS, REMOVING, AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION .
- Individual components of suspension, refer to Fig 4

- Front Muffler
- With decoupling element, decoupling element must not be bent more than 10° - otherwise it may be damaged
- Removing and installing, refer to FRONT MUFFLER, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
- Align the exhaust system free of tension, refer to EXHAUST SYSTEM, INSTALLING WITHOUT TENSION .
- Front Clamping Sleeve
- Installed position, refer to Fig 2
- Pushed all the way onto the front muffler
- Before tightening, align exhaust system free of tension, refer to EXHAUST SYSTEM, INSTALLING WITHOUT TENSION .
- Tighten threaded connections evenly.

- Trim
- For the tail pipe
- Push all the way onto the tail pipe
- Suspended Mount
- Replace if damaged.
- Check pretension, refer to EXHAUST SYSTEM, INSTALLING WITHOUT TENSION .

- For individual replacement of center and rear mufflers
- Installed position, refer to Fig 3
- Before tightening, align exhaust system free of tension, refer to EXHAUST SYSTEM, INSTALLING WITHOUT TENSION .
- Tighten threaded connections evenly.

-- To remove, remove the diagonal braces for the center and rear mufflers -1- and -2-.
-- Install the diagonal braces, refer to OVERVIEW - SUBFRAME .
