Right Exhaust Manifold, Removing And Installing: Removing

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2015 Audi A7 Quattro, 2014 Audi A7 Quattro, 2013 Audi A7, and 2012 Audi A7. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
NOTE:

When installing, bring all cable ties back to same positions.

-- Drain the coolant, refer to COOLANT, DRAINING AND FILLING .

-- Also remove the rear noise insulation, refer to REAR NOISE INSULATION, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Remove the air filter housing, refer to AIR FILTER HOUSING, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Remove the Heated Oxygen Sensor -G39-, refer to HEATED OXYGEN SENSOR -G39- /OXYGEN SENSOR AFTER THREE WAY CATALYTIC CONVERTER -G130-, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Remove the bolts -arrows-, and remove the right subframe heat shield -1-.

-- Remove the right front wheel, refer to WHEELS AND TIRES .

-- Remove the driveshaft cover -1- in the right wheel housing.

-- Remove the bolts -arrows- and remove the right drive axle heat shield.

-- Remove the right driveshaft from the transmission flange shaft, refer to DRIVE AXLE, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

CAUTION:

The decoupling elements in the front muffler could be damaged.

  • Do not bend decoupling element in front muffler more than 10°.

-- Loosen left clamping sleeve -2-, slide back and tie up the right front muffler.

NOTE:

Ignore item -1-.

Vehicles without Auxiliary Heater:

-- Remove the bolts -1 and 2-.

-- Loosen the clamps -arrows- and remove the coolant hoses from the coolant pipe on the right longitudinal member and then remove the coolant pipe.

Vehicles with Parking Heater:

-- Remove the nut -1- and bolt -2-.

-- Loosen the clamps -arrows- and remove the coolant hoses from the coolant pipe on the right longitudinal member and then remove the coolant pipe.

Continuation for All Vehicles:

-- Remove the bolt -1- and nuts -arrows- and then remove the catalytic converter from the exhaust manifold.

NOTE:

The installation location is shown with the engine removed.

-- Remove the bolts -1 through 4- and remove the heat shield.

-- Remove the nuts -7- and -9- and the heat shield bracket.

-- Remove nuts -1 through 6- and -8- and the exhaust manifold.
