Left Exhaust Manifold, Removing And Installing: Removing

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2015 Audi A7 Quattro, 2014 Audi A7 Quattro, 2013 Audi A7, and 2012 Audi A7. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
NOTE:

When installing, bring all cable ties back to same positions.

-- Remove the noise insulations, refer to NOISE INSULATION, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Remove the ribbed belt from the A/C compressor, refer to RIBBED BELT, REMOVING AND INSTALLING, ACCESSORY RIBBED BELT .

-- Remove the A/C compressor, refer to A/C COMPRESSOR, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Remove the bolts -arrows-, and remove the left subframe heat shield -1-.

-- Remove the bolts -arrows- and remove the left drive axle heat shield.

-- Remove the left driveshaft from the transmission flange shaft, refer to DRIVE AXLE, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

CAUTION:

The decoupling elements in the front muffler could be damaged.

  • Do not bend decoupling element in front muffler more than 10°.

-- Loosen the clamping sleeve -1-, slide it to the rear and then tie it to the left front muffler.

NOTE:

Ignore item -2-.

-- Remove the bolt -1- and the nuts -arrows- and then push the left catalytic converter to the rear.

-- Remove the connector -2- for the Heated Oxygen Sensor 2 -G108- from the bracket, disconnect it and free up the wire.

NOTE:

Ignore -1, 2, 3 and 4- and -arrows-.

-- Remove the nuts -arrow- and free up the coolant pipe on the wiring harness.

-- Disconnect the connector -1-.

-- Remove the bolt -2- and move the coolant reservoir, with the coolant hoses -arrows- still connected, to the side.

-- Loosen the fasteners -1- and -arrows- and remove the heat shield from the left longitudinal member.

-- Remove the bolts -1 through 4- and remove the heat shield.

-- Remove the nuts -1- and -8- and the heat shield bracket.

-- Remove nuts -2 through 7- and -9- and remove the exhaust manifold.
