Right Catalytic Converter, Removing And Installing, Vehicles With DSG Transmission: Removing

NOTE:

When installing, bring all cable ties back to same positions.

-- Remove the right front muffler, refer to FRONT MUFFLER, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Remove the subframe crossbrace, refer to SUBFRAME CROSSBRACE, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

CAUTION:

The suspension components could be damaged.

Do not rest the vehicle on its wheels if the subframe mount, the steering gear or the subframe crossbrace are not installed correctly.

-- Remove the plenum chamber bulkhead, refer to PLENUM CHAMBER BULKHEAD, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Remove the Throttle Valve Control Module -J338-, refer to THROTTLE VALVE CONTROL MODULE -J338-, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Remove the right coolant pipe from the transmission, refer to RIGHT COOLANT PIPE ON TRANSMISSION, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Remove the Oxygen Sensor after Three Way Catalytic Converter -G130-, refer to HEATED OXYGEN SENSOR -G39- /OXYGEN SENSOR AFTER THREE WAY CATALYTIC CONVERTER -G130-, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Remove the connectors -1 to 4- from the bracket.

-- Remove the bolts -arrows- and bracket.

-- Remove the nuts -arrows- and the bolt -1- and move the right catalytic converter to the rear.

-- Remove the bolts and the bracket -1- for the exhaust system.

-- Remove bolts -arrows- and then remove the heat shield.

-- Remove the bolts -3- and the right secondary air injection combination valve and move it to the left with the secondary air injection hose still connected as well as the vacuum hose -2-.

NOTE:

Ignore item -1-.

-- Loosen the attachments -arrows- and remove the right upper heat shield -1- for the tunnel.

-- Place the Engine/Gearbox Jack - Gearbox Support T10337 on the Engine and Gearbox Jack VAS 6931 and place under the transmission.

-- Lift the transmission slightly with the engine and gearbox jack.

WARNING:

There is the risk of an accident.

Do not lower the Engine and Gearbox Jack VAS 6931 during assembly and do not leave it under the vehicle unsupervised.

-- Remove the bolts from the tunnel crossmember -arrows-.

-- Lower the tunnel crossmember to dimension -a- using the Engine/Gearbox Jack VAG 1383A.

Dimension -a- = maximum 60 mm.

-- Secure the transmission with the Transmission Support VW 785/1B as shown in the illustration.

-- Remove the right catalytic converter from the top.
