CYLINDER HEAD REMOVING, Vehicles With A Turbocharger: Removing
-- Drain the coolant. Refer to COOLANT, DRAINING AND FILLING .
-- Remove the turbocharger. Refer to TURBOCHARGER, REMOVING AND INSTALLING, Vehicles With A Turbocharger .
-- Remove the intake manifold. Refer to INTAKE MANIFOLD, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
-- Remove the camshafts. Refer to CAMSHAFT, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
Left Cylinder Head
-- Loosen the clamp -1- and remove the coolant hose.
Ignore item -2-.
-- Remove the bolts -1- and then remove the Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) pipe.
Ignore item -2-.
-- Remove the union nut -left arrow- and then remove the high pressure line -1-.
Ignore -right arrow-.
Right Cylinder Head
-- Remove the front coolant pipe. Refer to FRONT COOLANT PIPE, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
-- Loosen hose clamp -1- and lift the clamp -2- to remove the coolant hoses.
Ignore the -arrows-.
-- Remove the union nut -right arrow- and then remove the high pressure line -1-.
Ignore -left arrow-.
-- Remove the banjo bolt -arrow-.
-- Remove the guide pins for the glide track -1- and for the tensioning rail -2-.
Ignore :T40246 .
Continued For Both Sides
-- Remove the bolts and the cylinder head carefully.
Danger of damaging the glow plugs when removing the cylinder head.
- Do not lay the removed cylinder head on the sealing surface with the glow plugs installed otherwise the glow plugs will protrude slightly past the sealing surface
