Left Engine Mount, Removing And Installing: Removing

NOTE:

The engine mount and engine mount actuator make up one unit.

-- Support the engine in the installation position. Refer to ENGINE, SUPPORTING IN INSTALLED POSITION .

-- Remove the noise insulations. Refer to NOISE INSULATION . .

-- Remove the front left and right wheel housing liners. Refer to WHEEL HOUSING LINER . .

-- Remove the left and right front wheel spoiler. Refer to WHEEL HOUSING LINER . .

-- Remove the left and right bolts -arrows- and the heat shield -1-.

-- Remove the left and right drive axles from the transmission flange shaft. Refer to DRIVE AXLE . .

-- If equipped, disconnect the left and right connector -1- from the Left Front Level Control System Sensor -G78- /Right Front Level Control System Sensor -G289- and free up the wire -arrow-.

-- Remove the left and right stabilizer bar bolt -1-.

NOTE:

Ignore items -2 and 3-.

Audi S6/S7:

-- Remove the nut -1- and remove the bracket with the wiring harness from the subframe.

NOTE:

Ignore item -2-.

Audi RS6/RS7

-- Remove the right bolt -arrow-, and remove the bracket with the wiring harness from the subframe.

-- Remove the nut -arrow-, push aside the coolant line.

-- Remove the front lower longitudinal member on the left and right side. Refer to FRONT BUMPER . .

-- Remove the steering intermediate shaft from the steering gear push them upward. Refer to STEERING COLUMN . .

-- Release the safety catch in direction of -arrow-, push the retainer down and disconnect the connector from -2- from the Power Steering Control Module -J500-.

-- Disconnect the connector -1- from the Power Steering Control Module -J500-.

-- Free up the wiring harness.

-- Free up the clip -arrow-.

-- Disconnect the connector -1- and free up the wire.

-- Loosen the hose clamps -arrows-, then clamp off the coolant hoses with the :3094  and remove the hoses.

-- Remove the bolts -1, 2 and 3- for the lower left coolant pipe.

-- Loosen the clamp -1- and remove the coolant hose.

-- Disconnect the connector -2- and free up the wire.

-- Disconnect the left and right connectors -1 and 2-.

-- Remove the connector -arrow- from the mount, disconnect it, and then guide it through the subframe.

-- Remove the right engine mount bolt -arrow-.

-- Remove the bolts -1 and 3- and -arrows-.

-- Push aside the left engine mount retaining plate -2-.

-- Support the subframe using :VAS6931  as shown in the illustration.

-- Mark the location of the subframe to the longitudinal members using a felt-tip pen.

-- Remove the left and right subframe bolts -1, 2 and 3- in a diagonal sequence.

CAUTION:

The suspension components could be damaged.

  • Do not rest the vehicle on its wheels if the subframe mount, the steering gear or the subframe crossbrace are not installed correctly.

-- Lower the subframe using the :VAS6931  just enough so that the upper left coolant tube is accessible, while at the same time paying attention to the clearance for the right electrical cables.

-- Remove the left engine mount.
