Pinpoint Test A : The Vehicle Does Not Start

  1. A1 CHECK FOR COMMUNICATION WITH THE PCM AND THE BCM

    • Ignition ON.
    • Using a diagnostic scan tool, perform the network test.

    Does the PCM and the BCM pass the network test? 

    Yes  GO to  A2.
    No  DIAGNOSE the PCM or the BCM not responding to the diagnostic scan tool. REFER to Module Communications Network .

  2. A2 CHECK FOR BCM DTCs

    • Using a diagnostic scan tool, perform the BCM self-test.

    Are any BCM DTCs present? 

    Yes  REFER to the BCM DTC Chart .
    No  The no-start condition is not caused by the PATS. DIAGNOSE the cause of the no-start condition. REFER to the Engine Controls - Symptom Charts (Except Diesel & Hybrid) .
