PINPOINT TEST D : DTCS P0815, P0816 (Column shift)

  1. D1 CHECK DTCs

    • Ignition ON.
    • Connect the scan tool.
    • Start the engine and RUN the KOER self-test.

    Is DTC P0815, P0816 set? 

    Yes  ForDTC P0815, GO to  D2.ForDTC P0816, GO to  D6.
    No  OPERATE the system, if any issues are present, GO to  D2.

  2. D2 CHECK THE UPSHIFT CIRCUIT FOR VOLTAGE

    • Ignition OFF.
    • Disconnect: Tow/Haul C2428 .
    • Inspect C2428 for damaged, pushed-out terminals, corrosion or loose wires.
    • Measure:
      Positive Lead Measurement / Action Negative Lead

      		 Ground
    • Ignition ON.

    Is the voltage greater than 11 volts? 

    Yes  GO to  D5.
    No  GO to  D3.

  3. D3 CHECK THE UPSHIFT CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN

    • Ignition OFF.
    • Disconnect: PCM C175E .
    • Inspect the connector for damaged, pushed-out terminals, corrosion or loose wires.
    • Measure:
      Positive Lead Measurement / Action Negative Lead

    Is the resistance less than 3 ohms? 

    Yes  GO to  D4.
    No  REPAIR the circuit for an open. CLEAR the DTCs. RERUN the KOER self-test.

  4. D4 CHECK UPSHIFT CIRCUIT FOR A SHORT TO GROUND

    • Measure:
      Positive Lead Measurement / Action Negative Lead

      		 Ground

    Is the resistance greater than 10, 000 ohms? 

    Yes  INSTALL a new PCM. Electronic Engine Controls . PROGRAM the PCM with the latest calibration level. PERFORM the solenoid strategy download procedure, REFER to solenoid body strategy in Automatic Transmission 6R80 . RERUN the KOER self-test.
    No  REPAIR the circuit for a short to ground.

  5. D5 CHECK THE SIGNAL RETURN CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN

    • Ignition ON.
    • Measure:
      Positive Lead Measurement / Action Negative Lead

    Is the resistance less than 3 ohms? 

    Yes  INSTALL a new selector lever. REFER to Selector Lever - Column Shift . CLEAR the DTCs. RERUN the KOER self-test.
    No  INSPECT and REPAIR the signal return circuit for an open.

  6. D6 CHECK THE DOWNSHIFT CIRCUIT FOR VOLTAGE

    • Ignition OFF.
    • Disconnect: Tow/Haul C2428 .
    • Inspect C2428 for damaged, pushed-out terminals, corrosion or loose wires.
    • Ignition ON.
    • Measure:
      Positive Lead Measurement / Action Negative Lead

      		 Ground

    Is the voltage greater than 11 volts? 

    Yes  GO to  D9.
    No  GO to  D7.

  7. D7 CHECK THE DOWNSHIFT CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN

    • Ignition OFF.
    • Disconnect: PCM C175B .
    • Inspect the connector for damaged, pushed-out terminals, corrosion or loose wires.
    • Measure:
      Positive Lead Measurement / Action Negative Lead

    Is the resistance less than 3 ohms? 

    Yes  GO to  D8.
    No  REPAIR the circuit for an open. CLEAR the DTCs. RERUN the KOER self-test.

  8. D8 CHECK DOWNSHIFT CIRCUIT FOR A SHORT TO GROUND

    • Measure:
      Positive Lead Measurement / Action Negative Lead

      		 Ground

    Is the resistance greater than 10, 000 ohms? 

    Yes  INSTALL a new PCM. Electronic Engine Controls . PROGRAM the PCM with the latest calibration level. PERFORM the solenoid strategy download procedure, REFER to solenoid body strategy in Automatic Transmission 6R80 . RERUN the KOER self-test.
    No  REPAIR the circuit for a short to ground. CLEAR DTCs.

  9. D9 CHECK THE SIGNAL RETURN CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN

    • Ignition ON.
    • Measure:
      Positive Lead Measurement / Action Negative Lead

    Is the resistance less than 3 ohms? 

    Yes  INSTALL a new selector lever. REFER to Selector Lever - Column Shift . CLEAR the DTCs. RERUN the KOER self-test.
    No  INSPECT and REPAIR the signal return circuit for an open.
