Brake Fluid Reservoir, Removing And Installing: Removing

-- Remove the plenum chamber cover. Refer to BULKHEAD .

-- To protect against escaping brake fluid, place a cloth under the separating point.

CAUTION:

Leaking brake fluid increases the risk of injury.

Risk of skin irritation and injury.

- Wear safety gloves.

-- Open the brake fluid reservoir.

CAUTION:

- Brake fluid must never come into contact with fluids containing mineral oils (oil, gasoline, cleaning solutions).

- Wear safety gloves that are free of oil and grease.

-- Extract as much brake fluid as possible from the brake fluid reservoir using the Brake Charger/Bleeder Unit:VAS5234  with the Adapter:VAS5234/1  .

CAUTION:

- Rinse off any leaking brake fluid immediately using plenty of water.

-- To prevent brake fluid from escaping, place enough lint-free cloths in the area under the brake fluid reservoir.

-- Remove the bolt -arrow- and remove the protective plate -1-.

-- Disconnect the connector -2- for the Brake Fluid Level Warning Switch -F34-.

-- To prevent brake fluid from escaping, place enough lint-free cloths in the area under the brake master cylinder.

-- Remove the locking pin -arrow- on the side of the brake fluid reservoir and from the brake master cylinder.

-- Remove the brake fluid reservoir -1- from the plugs.

-- Immediately seal any open lines and connections with plugs from the Engine Bung Set:VAS6122  .
