Front Three-Point Seat Belt, Removing And Installing: Removing
- Follow all pyrotechnic components safety precautions, refer to PYROTECHNIC COMPONENTS SAFETY PRECAUTIONS .
- Follow all regulations when disposing of pyrotechnic components, refer to AIRBAG, BELT TENSIONER AND BATTERY CUT-OUT UNITS, STORING, TRANSPORTING AND DISPOSING .
-- Disconnect the battery Ground (GND) cable with the ignition turned on, refer to BATTERY, DISCONNECTING AND CONNECTING (A3 / A3 CABRIOLET) .
-- Remove the front belt anchor, refer to FRONT BELT END FITTING, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
-- Remove the side trim panel, refer to SIDE TRIM PANEL, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
-- Remove the bolt -1-.
-- Remove the seat belt relay -2- and seat belt.
Vehicles without an Electric Seat Belt Tensioner:
Before handling pyrotechnic components (for example, disconnecting the connector), the person handling it must "discharge static electricity". This can be done by touching the door striker, for example.
-- Release the connector lock with a small screw driver -arrow-, and remove the connector for the seat belt tensioner igniter 1 -1-.
-- Remove the bolt -3- and the automatic belt retractor -2- from the mount.
Vehicles with an Electric Seat Belt Tensioner:

-- Pull the connector lock -1- out and push it down, then disconnect the connector from the seat belt igniter.
-- Disconnect the connector -3- from the seat belt tensioner control module.
-- Free up the wire.
-- Remove the bolts -2 and 5- and then remove the automatic belt retractor -4- from the mount.
