Parking Air Conditioner General Information
WARNING: This page is about a different variant/trim than selected.
- On vehicles with a high voltage system the function "parking air conditioning" in the MMI, here the different functions of the parking heater via the High Voltage Heater (PTC) -Z115-, the parking ventilation and the cooling of the passenger compartment (via the air conditioner) can be displayed and selected. Refer to the Owner's Manual and Infotainment/MMI Operating Instructions.
- Via the function "parking air conditioning" the vehicle with high voltage system and without the optional equipment "parking heater" can heat, ventilate or via the air conditioner at a high ambient temperature cool the passenger compartment with the High Voltage Heater (PTC) -Z115-. Refer to the Owner's Manual and Infotainment/MMI Operating Instructions.
- Via the function "parking air conditioner" the passenger compartment can be heated on a vehicle with high voltage system and the optional equipment "parking heater" with the High Voltage Heater (PTC) -Z115- or the parking heater. This applies that the parking heater is usually activated at an ambient temperature under -10 °C (14 °F). If the ambient temperature is greater than -10 °C (14 °F) the A/C system control head Climatronic Control Module -J255- will typically decide that the heating output of the High Voltage heater (PTC) -Z115- is enough to warm up the vehicle interior. Refer to GENERAL INFORMATION , Owner's Manual and Infotainment/MMI Operating Instructions.
- If the function "parking air conditioning" is activated and the Climatronic Control Module -J255- decides that the heating output operations is necessary, different control modules for example the Battery Regulation Control Module -J840- (installed in the Hybrid Battery Unit -AX1-), the High Voltage Battery Charger Control Module -J1050- (is installed in the Electric Drive Power and Control Electronics -JX1-) etc. will be checked from the Climatronic Control Module -J255- via the Data Bus. The Climatronic Control Module -J255- receives the information, that the Hybrid Battery Unit -AX1- is sufficiently charged, enough energy to drive the High Voltage Heater (PTC) -Z115- is available and there is enough fuel in the fuel tank, the Climatronic Control Module -J255- activated depending on the ambient temperature the High Voltage Heater (PTC) -Z115- or the parking heater.
- If a vehicle is driven after heating, ventilating, or cooling the vehicle interior via the "parking air conditioner" function under all circumstances also on vehicles without the optional equipment "parking heater" there must be enough fuel in the fuel tank so that the Climatronic Control Module -J255- function "parting air conditioning" to heat, ventilate or cool the vehicle interior can be activated. Reason: via the "parking air conditioner" function energy is taken from the Hybrid Battery Unit -AX1-. So that the vehicle also with a lesser charged Hybrid Battery Unit -AX1- can easily be moved it may also be necessary to be able to start the engine. Refer to Owner's Manual and Infotainment/MMI Operating Instructions.
- So that he vehicle interior is heated, ventilated or cooled at a high ambient temperature by the "parking air conditioner" can be cooled via the A/C system the Climatronic Control Module -J255- starts up and activated additional components (for example the Fresh Air Blower -V2-, and different A/C system actuators, when it should be heated the High Voltage Heater (PTC) -Z115- or when equipped the parking heater, or when it should be cooled the Electrical A/C Compressor -V470-).
- So that the warmed coolant from the High Voltage Heater (PTC) -Z115- can flow through the A/C heater core, the High Temperature Circuit Coolant Pump -V467-, the Coolant Change-Over Valve 2 -N633- and the Transmission Coolant Valve -N488- (by respective Engine Control Module) must also be activated. So that the coolant flows in the correct direction the check valve in the coolant circuit must be installed correctly and its function must be OK. More information. Refer to HIGH VOLTAGE HEATER (PTC) -Z115-, INCORPORATION, IN THE COOLANT CIRCUIT , COOLING SYSTEM/COOLANT [CRUA, DEJA] / COOLANT SYSTEM/COOLANT [CNSB, CNTC] (Connection Diagram for Coolant Hoses), using the Vehicle Diagnostic Tester in the"Guided Fault Finding" function) and refer to the appropriate Wiring Diagram(s).
- In the Climatronic Control Module -J255- receives the information that the Hybrid Battery Unit -AX1- is not sufficiently charged and because of this there is not enough energy to operate the High Voltage Heater (PTC) -Z115- or that there is not enough fuel in the fuel tank, the Climatronic Control Module -J255- does not activate the "parking air conditioner" function (and with this the High Voltage Heater (PTC) -Z115- is not started and the "parking heater function" is not activated) using the Vehicle Diagnostic Tester in the"Guided Fault Finding" function, refer to the appropriate Wiring Diagram(s) , Owner's Manual and the Infotainment/MMI Operating Instructions.
- On vehicles with a high voltage system and the optional equipment "Audi connect service" the "parking air conditioner" function can also be switched on and off via a cell phone (and the Information Electronics Control Module 1 -J794-). Refer to OVERVIEW - TELEPHONE / TELEPHONE ANTENNA, REMOVING AND INSTALLING , refer to the appropriate Wiring Diagram(s). , Owner's Manual and the Infotainment/MMI Operating Instructions.
