Backrest Cover And Cushion, Removing And Installing, Standard/Sport Seat: Removing
- Follow all safety precautions when working on pyrotechnic components. Refer to SAFETY PRECAUTIONS WHEN WORKING WITH PYROTECHNIC COMPONENTS .
- Before handling pyrotechnic components (for example, disconnecting the connector), the person handling it must "discharge static electricity". For example, this can be done by briefly touching the door striker.
-- Remove the front seat. Refer to FRONT SEAT, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
-- Fasten the front seat on the :VAS6136 . Refer to FRONT SEAT, MOUNTING ON FIXTURE FOR SEAT REPAIR .
-- Remove the backrest cover. Refer to BACKREST COVER, REMOVING AND INSTALLING, STANDARD/SPORT SEAT .
-- Remove the tunnel-side seat side trim. Refer to SEAT SIDE TRIM ON TUNNEL SIDE, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
-- Remove the seat side trim on side sill side
- Front seat manual. Refer to SEAT SIDE TRIM ON SIDE SILL SIDE, REMOVING AND INSTALLING, MANUAL FRONT SEAT .
- Power front seat. Refer to SEAT SIDE TRIM ON SIDE SILL SIDE, REMOVING AND INSTALLING, POWER FRONT SEAT .
-- Free up the wiring harness for the thorax airbag and the backrest heating (depending on the version) from the seat pan. Refer to FRONT SEAT WIRE ROUTING .
-- Remove the front backrest. Refer to FRONT BACKREST, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
-- Disengage the lower cover -1- from the backrest hinge trim -arrows-.
-- Pull the cover tabs -1, and 3- upward -arrows- and disengage the beading -2- on the cover.
-- Detach the lower moldings -4- from the backrest frame.
-- Disengage the cover clamping strip -1- from the backrest frame -arrow-.
Vehicle versions with backrest release/entry assistance.
-- Remove the backrest release trim. Refer to BACKREST RELEASE TRIM, REMOVING AND INSTALLING, STANDARD SEAT/SPORT SEAT .
-- Disengage the hook -arrows- of the cover with the cushion from the backrest release -2-.
Continuation for all Seat Versions:
-- Disengage the cushion -1- with cover -2- at the lower section of the backrest -arrows-.
-- Carefully loosen the cushion from the backrest frame and pull as far forward as possible.
-- Remove the front thorax airbag. Refer to FRONT THORAX AIRBAG WITH IGNITER, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
-- Remove the cushion and cover from the backrest frame, depending on the version guide the wiring harness for the backrest heating.
