Front Thorax Airbag With Igniter, Removing And Installing: Removing
- Follow all safety precautions when working on pyrotechnic components. Refer to SAFETY PRECAUTIONS WHEN WORKING WITH PYROTECHNIC COMPONENTS .
- Follow the additional safety precautions when working with the thorax airbag. Refer to ADDITIONAL THORAX AIRBAG SAFETY PRECAUTIONS .
- Follow all regulations when disposing of pyrotechnic components. Refer to AIRBAG, BELT TENSIONER AND BATTERY CUT-OUT UNITS, STORING, TRANSPORTING AND DISPOSING (PYROTECHNIC COMPONENTS) .
-- Remove the front seat. Refer to FRONT SEAT, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
-- Fasten the front seat on the :VAS6136 . Refer to FRONT SEAT, MOUNTING ON FIXTURE FOR SEAT REPAIR .
-- Remove the backrest cover. Refer to BACKREST COVER, REMOVING AND INSTALLING, STANDARD/SPORT SEAT .
-- Free up the wiring harness for the thorax airbag from the seat frame. Refer to FRONT SEAT WIRE ROUTING .
-- Remove the padding on the backrest until the bolt -6- for the thorax airbag is accessible. Refer to BACKREST COVER AND CUSHION, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
-- Carefully pull the cover -1- as far forward as possible with the cushion -2- in the area of the thorax airbag.
-- Remove the bolt -6-.
-- Disengage the thorax airbag -3- from the backrest frame -4- using the hook -5-.
-- Vehicle versions with upper pocket opening: leave the thorax airbag -3- in the pocket and remove the cover and padding form the seat backrest. Refer to BACKREST COVER AND CUSHION, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Remove the thorax airbag -2- from the pocket sewn into the cover -1-.
-- Carefully remove the thorax airbag wiring harness from the backrest frame.
