Front Three-Point Seat Belt, Removing And Installing, Market-Specific: Removing
- Follow all safety precautions when working on pyrotechnic components. Refer to SAFETY PRECAUTIONS WHEN WORKING WITH PYROTECHNIC COMPONENTS .
- Follow all regulations when disposing of pyrotechnic components. Refer to AIRBAG, BELT TENSIONER AND BATTERY CUT-OUT UNITS, STORING, TRANSPORTING AND DISPOSING (PYROTECHNIC COMPONENTS) .
-- Remove the front seat. Refer to FRONT SEAT, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
-- Disconnect the battery ground cable with the ignition turned on. Refer to BATTERY, DISCONNECTING AND CONNECTING .
-- Remove the upper B-pillar trim and the bracket. Refer to UPPER B-PILLAR TRIM, REMOVING AND INSTALLING, A3 SPORTBACK/SEDAN .
-- Remove the B-pillar lower trim panel. Refer to B-PILLAR LOWER TRIM PANEL, REMOVING AND INSTALLING, A3 E-TRON/SEDAN .
-- Remove the front belt end fitting. Refer to FRONT BELT ANCHOR, REMOVING AND INSTALLING, MARKET-SPECIFIC .
-- Thread the belt webbing out of the B-pillar trim.
-- Push the bracket together -arrows- and remove the belt guide -1- upward.
-- Thread out the belt -2- and remove the belt guide.
-- Remove the bolt -1-.
-- Remove the seat belt relay -2- with the seat belt webbing.
Before handling pyrotechnic components (for example, disconnecting the connector), the person handling it must "discharge static electricity". For example, this can be done by briefly touching the door striker.
-- Pull the connector lock out and push it down, then disconnect the connector -1- from the seat belt tensioner igniter and seat belt force limiter.
-- Push the release to disconnect the seat belt tensioner control module connector -3-.
-- Remove the bolts -2 and 5- and then remove the automatic belt retractor -4- from the mount.
