Front Belt TENSIONER, Removing And Installing, Market-Specific: Removing
- Follow all safety precautions when working on pyrotechnic components. Refer to SAFETY PRECAUTIONS WHEN WORKING WITH PYROTECHNIC COMPONENTS .
- Follow all regulations when disposing of pyrotechnic components. Refer to AIRBAG, BELT TENSIONER AND BATTERY CUT-OUT UNITS, STORING, TRANSPORTING AND DISPOSING (PYROTECHNIC COMPONENTS) .
-- Remove the front seat. Refer to FRONT SEAT, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
-- Disconnect the battery ground cable with the ignition turned on. Refer to BATTERY, DISCONNECTING AND CONNECTING .
-- Remove the front belt end fitting. Refer to FRONT BELT ANCHOR, REMOVING AND INSTALLING, MARKET-SPECIFIC .
-- Unclip the wiring harness -2- from the side sill and the belt tensioner.
-- Remove the bolts -1-.
-- Remove the belt tensioner -5- forward from the bracket -3- -arrow-.
Before handling pyrotechnic components (for example, disconnecting the connector), the person handling it must "discharge static electricity". For example, this can be done by briefly touching the door striker.
-- Disconnect the connector -4- for the for belt tensioner.
-- Pull the locking mechanism -1- in the direction of the -arrow- and disconnect the electrical connectors -2- and -3-.
