Rear Side Padding With Thorax Airbag, Removing And Installing: Removing
-- Remove the bench seat / bucket seats. Refer to BENCH SEAT/SINGLE SEAT, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
- Follow all safety precautions when working on pyrotechnic components. Refer to SAFETY PRECAUTIONS WHEN WORKING WITH PYROTECHNIC COMPONENTS .
- Follow the additional safety precautions when working with the thorax airbag. Refer to ADDITIONAL THORAX AIRBAG SAFETY PRECAUTIONS .
- Follow all regulations when disposing of pyrotechnic components. Refer to AIRBAG, BELT TENSIONER AND BATTERY CUT-OUT UNITS, STORING, TRANSPORTING AND DISPOSING (PYROTECHNIC COMPONENTS) .
-- Disconnect the battery ground cable with the ignition turned on. Refer to BATTERY, DISCONNECTING AND CONNECTING .
-- Remove the nut -1-.
-- Fold the rear seat backrest forward.
-- Hold the belt to the side, pull the side cushion -2- down -arrow- and remove.
Before handling pyrotechnic components (for example, disconnecting the connector), the person handling it must "discharge static electricity". For example, this can be done by briefly touching the door striker.
-- Disconnect the connector (yellow) from the rear thorax airbag.
-- Pull the locking mechanism -1- in the direction of the -arrow- and disconnect the electrical connectors -2 and 3-.
-- Connect the :VAS6282 to the thorax airbag harness connector. Refer to AIRBAG ADAPTER, CONNECTING AND DISCONNECTING .
