Lower Control Arm, Removing And Installing: Removing

-- Before beginning work measure the distance from the center of wheel to lower edge of wheelhouse. Refer to WHEEL BEARING IN CURB WEIGHT, LIFTING VEHICLES WITH COIL SPRING .

-- Remove the wheel. Refer to WHEELS AND TIRES .

-- Remove the noise insulation. Refer to NOISE INSULATION, REMOVING AND INSTALLING / OVERVIEW - NOISE INSULATION .

-- Loosen the wheel housing liner from the underbody trim and pivot to the side.

-- If installed, remove the nut -4- and free up the coupling rod from the Vehicle Inclination Sensor -G384- -3-.

-- Remove the nuts -arrows-.

-- Remove the control arm from the ball joint and then turn the wheel bearing housing toward the outside to take the load off the control arm.

NOTE:

During assembly make sure that the ball joint rubber joint is not damaged and if necessary secure the ball joint rubber joint from damage.

-- Remove bolts -arrows-.

NOTE:

If, depending on the transmission, the front bolts cannot be removed, the subframe must be lowered.

Lower the subframe a maximum of 100 mm (3.93 in.). Refer to SUBFRAME, LOWERING .

-- Swivel the control arm toward the rear and then remove it from the subframe in the direction of -arrow-.
