Filling The Joints With Grease

NOTE:
Grease Joint Again When Replacing Protective Joint Boot.
- Outer CV Joint
- Replace only as complete unit
- Checking. Refer to OUTER CV JOINT, CHECKING .
- Removing. Refer to REMOVING THE OUTER CV JOINT 90 MM
- Greasing. Refer to DRIVE AXLE WITH 90 MM DIAMETER OUTER CV JOINT
- Installing. Refer to DRIVE AXLE WITH 90 MM OUTER CV JOINT, SERVICING
- When installing joint on axle shaft, splines on axle shaft must be lightly coated with grease used in joint
- Bolt
- :WHT.005.437 / black = 200 Nm + 180° turn
- :WHT.005.437.A / silver = 200 Nm + 90° turn
- Always replace if removed
- Loosening and tightening. Refer to DRIVE AXLE THREADED CONNECTION, LOOSENING AND TIGHTENING .
- Before installing, clean the threads in the CV joint with a thread tap.
- Drive Axle
- For allocation. Refer to the parts information
- Clamp
- Tensioning. Refer to ASSEMBLING THE CV JOINT or Figure
- Always replace
- CV Boot for Outer CV Joint
- Without vent hole
- Check for tears and scuffing
- Clamp
- Tensioning. Refer to ASSEMBLING THE CV JOINT or Figure
- Always replace
- Plate Spring
- Installed position. Refer to DRIVE AXLE WITH 90 MM OUTER CV JOINT, SERVICING .
- Spacer Ring (Plastic)
- Installed position. Refer to DRIVE AXLE WITH 90 MM OUTER CV JOINT, SERVICING .
- Locking Ring
- Always replace
- Insert in shaft groove
- Protective Boot for Inner CV Joint
- Without vent hole
- Check for tears and scuffing
- Drive off CV joint using drift
- Coat the sealing surface with D 454 300 A2 before installing it on the CV joint
- Clamp
- Tensioning ASSEMBLING THE CV JOINT or Figure
- Always replace
- Locking Plate
- Internal Multi-Point Bolt
- Pre-Tightening Specification:Diagonal Sequence To 10 Nm.
- M8 Tightening Specification:Diagonal Sequence To 20 Nm.
- M8 Tightening Specification:Diagonal Sequence With 180° Additional Turn
- Always Replace If Removed.
- Locking Ring
- Replace
- Remove and install using Circlip Pliers:VW161A . Refer to Figure.
- Seal
- Bonding surface on CV joint must be free of grease and oil!
- Inner CV Joint
- Replace only as complete unit
- Checking. Refer to INNER CV JOINT, CHECKING .
- Removing. Refer to REMOVING
- Greasing. Refer to FILLING THE JOINTS WITH GREASE
- Installing. Refer to PRESSING ON INNER CV JOINT
- When installing joint on axle shaft, splines on axle shaft must be lightly coated with grease used in joint
