Expansion Valve, Removing And Installing: Installing: Notes
The expansion valve is available in different versions (same housing but different control characteristic). Allocation.
Check the refrigerant pipes leading to the evaporator for contamination and damage.
Coat the O-rings with refrigerant oil before installing. Refer to REFRIGERANT CIRCUIT SEALS .
Check the O-rings for proper seating on the evaporator connecting pipes.
-- Replace the O-rings. Refer to the Parts Information for the version.
-- Install the O-rings -1 and 4- onto the connecting pipes -2 and 3- to the evaporator.
-- Make sure the retainer -4- (bracket for securing the expansion valve on the evaporator pipes) is in the proper installation position (must not be pushed too far into the foam piece -5-, otherwise the bolts may not engage).
-- Attach the expansion valve -4- to the refrigerant lines to the evaporator.
-- Tighten the bolts -1 and 3-.
If the heat shield insulation -2- is missing or not installed correctly, it can cause reduced output of the A/C system (change of the set control characteristic due to radiant heat).
Reinstall in reverse order of removal. Note The Following:
-- Install the refrigerant lines with inner heat exchanger. Refer to REFRIGERANT LINES WITH INNER HEAT EXCHANGER, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
