Overview - Rear Brakes: Notes

Clean the bolts and nuts before reusing.
Always replace self-locking nuts and bolts.
Always replace damaged nuts and bolts.
NOTE:
The rear brakes for a vehicle with FWD and multi-link suspension is shown.

- For the brake line/hose
- On the body
- Spring
- Replace if damaged
- Brake Hose
- Make sure it is in the installation position
- Bleed Screw
- Before installing, thinly coat with Assembly Paste:G 052 150 A2 .
- 10 Nm
- Protective Cap
- Seal
- Replace after removing.
- Bolt
- 8 Nm
- Parking Brake Motor
- Removing and Installing. Refer to LEFT AND RIGHT PARKING BRAKE MOTOR -V282- / -V283-, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

- For the guide pins
- Guide Pin
- 35 Nm
- Wheel Bearing Housing
- Bolt
- 90 Nm + 90°
- Replace after removing.
- Brake Shield
- Removing and Installing. Refer to BRAKE SHIELD, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
- Brake Rotor
- Do not use excessive force to separate the brake rotor from the wheel hub. Use rust remover, if necessary, otherwise the brake rotor could be damaged.
- Replace on both sides of axle if worn.
- Removing and Installing. Refer to BRAKE ROTOR, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

- Brake Carrier
- Removing and Installing. Refer to BRAKE CARRIER, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
- Spring
- Outer Brake Pad
- Check the pad thickness. Refer to appropriate service information
- Removing and Installing. Refer to BRAKE PADS, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
- Always replace on both axles.
- Installation position. Refer to INSTALLATION POSITION OF THE BRAKE PADS .
- Inner Brake Pad
- With spring
- Check the pad thickness. Refer to appropriate service information
- Removing and Installing. Refer to BRAKE PADS, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
- Always replace on both axles.
- Installation position. Refer to INSTALLATION POSITION OF THE BRAKE PADS .
- Brake Caliper
- Do not remove the brake hose when changing the brake pads.
- Removing and Installing. Refer to BRAKE CALIPER, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
- Replacing. Refer to BRAKE CALIPER, REPLACING .
- After servicing or replacing, perform "Guided Fault Finding" using the Vehicle Diagnostic Tester appropriate service information..
- Banjo Bolt
- 35 Nm
- Permanent with gaskets
- Clean any corrosion from the sealing surface on the brake caliper
