Starter, Removing And Installing, Vehicles With 1.6L And 2.0L TDI Engine And Manual Transmission: Removing
-- With the ignition switched off, disconnect the ground cable from the battery. Refer to BATTERY, DISCONNECTING AND CONNECTING, ENGINE COMPARTMENT BATTERY .
-- Versions with a transmission ventilation: detach the transmission ventilation -1- from the battery tray and set aside by releasing the catch -2- and removing the transmission ventilation upward -arrow-.
-- Turn the transmission ventilation to the side near the starter.
-- Versions with NOx Sensor Control Module -J583- : loosen the NOx Sensor Control Module -2- from the battery tray and move to the side, to do so release the catches -3 and 4- and remove the bracket -1- upwards -arrow-.
-- Remove the air filter housing. Refer to AIR FILTER [For engine(s) CNSB, CNTC] or AIR FILTER [For engine(s) CNSB, CNTC] .
-- Disconnect the connector -1- by sliding the retainer back and pressing the release down.
-- Remove the cap -2-.
-- Remove the terminal 30/B+ wire -3- from the starter.
-- Remove the nut -4- and remove the bracket -1- for the wires. The wires remain plugged in.
-- Remove the bolts -2 and 5- and then remove the starter -3- upward.
