Starter, Removing And Installing, Vehicles With 1.0L, 1.2L, 1.4L And 1.8L TFSI Engine And Manual Transmission: Removing

-- With the ignition switched off, disconnect the ground cable from the battery. Refer to BATTERY, DISCONNECTING AND CONNECTING, ENGINE COMPARTMENT BATTERY .

-- If present, detach the transmission ventilation -1- from the battery tray and set aside by releasing the catch -2- and removing the transmission ventilation upward in the direction of -arrow-.

-- Turn the transmission ventilation to the side near the starter.

-- Disconnect the connector -1- by sliding the retainer back and pressing the release down.

-- Remove the cap -2-.

-- Remove the terminal 30/B+ wire -3- from the starter.

-- Remove the noise insulation. Refer to NOISE INSULATION .

-- Remove the nut -4- and remove the bracket -1- for the wires. The wires remain connected.

-- Remove the bolts -2 and 5- and then remove the starter -3- upward.
