Measure the Length of the Bleed Pipe on the transmission fluid container. Shorten it if Necessary.
Shorten the pipe to dimension -a-. This assures the pipe on the Adapter For Oil Filling will not touch the bottom on some oil containers.
- -a- = 210 mm
Dimension -a- is measured starting from the shaft (the green surface) on the Adapter For Oil Filling.
-- Make a mark on the bleed pipe, dimension a, and cut it, with the pipe cutter : VAS6056/2 .
Procedure
Observe general notes. Refer to GENERAL INFORMATION .
Follow the rules for clean working conditions. Refer to CLEAN WORKING CONDITIONS .
Follow all disposal regulations for transmission fluids. Refer to GENERAL REPAIR INFORMATION .
Danger of personal injury.
- The coolant fan can come on by itself, even when the ignition is turned off, for example, caused by heat build-up inside the engine compartment.
- Wear protective eyewear.
- Wear acid-resistant safety gloves.
Danger of causing damage to the transmission.
- Do not start the engine if there is little or no oil in the transmission due to repair work or severe loss of transmission fluid.
- In this case, fill first with S tronic transmission fluid.
Test Conditions
- Transmission not in emergency operation mode.
- Move the vehicle onto a 4-column shop hoist or over a work pit so it is completely level.
- The selector level is in "P".
- The parking brake button should be activated to close the electro-mechanical parking brake.
- Remove the noise insulation -1-. Refer to NOISE INSULATION, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
- Exhaust hose/hoses of an exhaust extraction system connected.
- Engine running at idle.
- The Air Conditioning (A/C) and the heater are off.
- Vehicle Diagnostic Tester is connected. Refer to Vehicle Diagnostic Tester.
- Transmission fluid temperature 35 to 45° C (95 to 113° F).
Read the Transmission Oil Temperature:
The gear oil level changes with the gear oil temperature. Gear oil temperature that is too low leads to overfilling, too high a temperature leads to underfilling.
Overfilling or underfilling will influence the function of the transmission.
-- Read the transmission oil temperature Vehicle Diagnostic Tester, Guided Fault Finding , Checking the oil level .
Transmission Fluid Level, Checking
-- Press the brake pedal and hold it down.
-- With brake pressed, shift through all selector lever positions "P, R, N, D/S" at idle, retaining each position for at least 3 seconds.
-- Place the : SMN372500 under the transmission.
-- When the transmission oil temperature reaches 35° C (95° F), remove the drain and check plug -A-.
- The collected gear oil runs out of the overflow tube -arrow 2-.
Some transmission fluid always leaks out when opening the drain and check plug -arrow 1-, regardless of the transmission fluid level.
-- Check if the overflow tubes are secure on the transmission.
If the overflow tube is not correctly connected, the correct transmission oil level cannot be determined.
-- Allow the excess transmission oil to drain.
- If some gear oil still leaks out at a temperature between 35 and 45 °C (95 to 113° F) (due to additional warming), gear oil level is OK.
Every 30 seconds, a small wave of fluid exits the overflow tube, regardless of the height of the oil level (Reason: Cooling oil impulse to clutch.) This wave does not mean there is excess fluid and does not indicate the fluid level.
Do not reuse transmission fluid that was drained.
-- If the transmission fluid level is OK, perform final measurements. Refer to Final Measures .
Transmission Fluid, Filling
-- When no transmission fluid drains out of the opening for drain and check plug -arrow 1- between 35 and 45 °C (95 to 113° F), fill the transmission fluid as follows.
Danger of causing damage to the transmission.
- Only the transmission fluid available as a replacement part may be used in the DSG transmission 0D9. Refer to the Parts Information.
- Using other fluids can cause malfunctions or transmission failure.
- The oil filler adapter must be clean and transmission fluid must not be mixed with another fluid!
-- Measure the length -a- of the vent pipe on the transmission fluid container and shorten it if necessary before installing the : VAS6262A . Refer to Measure the Length of the Bleed Pipe on the transmission fluid container. Shorten it if Necessary. .
-- Shake before opening.
-- Attach the transmission fluid container on the : VAS6262A .
-- Install the : VAS6262A into the opening for the drain and check plug -arrow 1- hand-tight.
-- Hold the container and : VAS6262A as high as possible over the transmission and fill the transmission with transmission fluid.
-- To check whether the transmission is filled sufficiently, disconnect quick release coupling on : VAS6262A at regular intervals and seal with finger or clean plug.
