Contact Corrosion
WARNING: This page does not describe the selected car, but rather 8 other vehicles, including the 2017 Audi S3, 2017 Audi A3 Quattro, 2016 Audi S3, 2016 Audi A3 Quattro, and 2016 Audi A3. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
Contact corrosion can occur if incorrect fasteners (bolts, nuts, washers, etc.) are used.
For this reason, only fasteners with a special surface coating may be installed.
In addition, rubber or plastic parts and adhesive are made of materials that do not conduct electricity.
If there are doubts about whether parts can be used or not, use new parts. Refer to the Parts Information.
NOTE:
Only original replacement parts are recommended. They are checked and are compatible with aluminum.
The use of Audi accessories is recommended.
Damage resulting from contact corrosion is not covered by the warranty.
