Glow Plug, Removing And Installing: Removing
-- Remove the engine cover. Refer to ENGINE COVER, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
- Do not press the :3314 together too firmly to remove the glow plug connector.
-- Open the wiring harness clips and remove the connectors from the glow plugs as follows.
-- Position the :3314 with the groove -arrow A- on the collar of the protective sleeve -arrow B-, as shown.
-- Remove the glow plug connector carefully from the glow plugs.
-- Clean the glow plug duct in the cylinder head. Dirt must not enter the cylinder.
Example for cleaning:
- Extract large contaminants with a vacuum cleaner.
- Spray a brake cleaner or a suitable cleaner into the glow plug shaft, let it work and then use compressed air to remove it.
- Then clean the glow plug duct with a cloth coated with oil.
Risk of injury due to flying soot particles.
Irritation and injury to skin and eyes possible.
- Wear protective eyewear.
- Wear safety gloves.
-- Loosen the glow plugs with the tool and remove by hand:
Glow plug versions. Refer toGLOW PLUG VERSIONS AND TIGHTENING SPECIFICATIONS .
For glow plugs without combustion chamber pressure sensor use the :3220 .
For glow plugs with combustion chamber pressure sensor use the :VAS6454 .
