Overview - Two-Piece Oil Pan: Notes

If large quantities of metal shavings or abraded material are detected during engine repairs, it may mean the crankshaft or connecting rod bearings are damaged. To prevent subsequent damage, perform the following steps after completing the repair: carefully clean the oil channels and replace the oil spray jets, the oil filter housing with engine oil cooler and the oil filter.
Oil spray jet and pressure relief valve. Refer to Figure.

Oil Pressure Regulation Valve -N428-
- Removing and Installing. Refer to Oil Pressure Regulation Valve -N428-, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

- Always replace after removing.
Splash Wall
Oil Pan Upper Section
- Tightening Sequence and Specification. Refer to Figure.
- Removing and Installing. Refer to OIL PAN UPPER SECTION, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
Oil Pan Lower Section
- Tightening Sequence and Specification. Refer to Figure.
- Removing and Installing. Refer to OIL PAN LOWER SECTION, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
Seal
- Always replace after removing.
Oil Level Thermal Sensor -G266-
- Removing and Installing. Refer to Oil Level Thermal Sensor -G266-, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
Nut
- 9 Nm
Seal
- Always replace after removing.
Oil Drain Plug
- 30 Nm
Bolt
- Tightening Sequence and Specification. Refer to Figure.
- For the oil pan lower section

- Tightening Sequence and Specification. Refer to Figure.
- Replace after removing.
- For the oil pan upper section
Oil Pump
- With vacuum pump
- Removing and Installing. Refer to OIL PUMP, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
Alignment Sleeve
Seal
- Always replace after removing.
Bolt
- Always replace after removing.
  Pay attention to the different threaded connections:
  - Bolt with Torx-internal drive 12 Nm +180°
  - Bolt with hex fitting-external drive 10 Nm +180°
Bolt
- 8 Nm +90°
- Always replace after removing.
O-ring
- Always replace after removing.
Oil Intake Pipe
Toothed Belt
- Do not kink, turn or damage the toothed belt with sharp edges
- Removing:
  - Remove the oil pump. Refer to OIL PUMP, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
  - Remove the belt pulley side sealing flange. Refer to SEALING FLANGE, REMOVING AND INSTALLING, BELT PULLEY SIDE .
Cylinder Block
O-ring
- Always replace after removing.
