Oil Pan, Removing And Installing: Installing

-- Remove the sealant residue on the cylinder block and the oil pan, for example using a rotating plastic brush.

-- Clean the sealing surfaces; they must be free of oil and grease.

• Be sure to check the expiration date of the sealant.

-- Cut the tube nozzle at the front marking (nozzle diameter: approximately 1.5 mm).

If Belt Pulley Sealing Flange Is NOT Replaced

-- Apply bead of sealant as shown to the clean sealing surface on the oil pan.

• After removing the old silicone seal for the cylinder block surface, the lower sealing flange surface on the pulley side has an approximately 1 mm offset
• This must be evened out onto the corresponding area of the oil pan sealing surface using the necessary sealant application.
• Near the sealing flange sealing surface on the belt pulley side -arrows- : 3 to 4 mm.

• Near the cylinder block sealing surfaces and the sealing flange on the transmission side: 2 to 3 mm.
• The bead of sealant must be able to be replaced in both height and width of the previous silicone seal near the sealing flange area on the belt pulley side.
• The upper section of the oil pan must be installed within five minutes of applying the sealant.

If Belt Pulley Sealing Flange Is Replaced

-- Apply bead of sealant as illustrated to the clean sealing surface on the oil pan.

• Sealant bead thickness: 2 to 3 mm.

Continuation for All Work Procedures

-- Replace the baffle plate.

-- Position the oil pan and tighten the bolts. Refer to Figure.

• The oil pan must be flush with the intermediate plate on the transmission flange.
• When installing the oil pan upper section to a removed engine, make sure that the oil pan upper section is positioned flush with the cylinder block on the flywheel side.
• Allow the sealant to dry for approximately 30 minutes after installing the oil pan upper section. Only afterward may the engine oil be replenished.

-- Fill with engine oil and check the oil level. Refer to appropriate service information.
