Suction Jet Pump, Removing And Installing: Removing

-- Follow all safety precautions. Refer to SAFETY PRECAUTIONS .

-- Follow the guidelines for clean working conditions. Refer to CLEAN WORKING CONDITIONS .

-- Move the front seats all the way forward.

-- Turn off the ignition.

-- Remove the rear bench seat. Refer to BENCH SEAT/SINGLE SEAT, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

WARNING:

Danger due to escaping fuel.

To prevent large quantities of fuel from leaking from the fuel delivery unit when removing, the fuel tank may only be a maximum of ¹ /₄ full.

-- If required, empty the fuel tank. Refer to FUEL TANK, DRAINING .

-- Unclip the right locking flange cover -1- at the tabs -arrows- using the Trim Removal Wedge:3409 .

-- Disconnect the connectors -1 and 2- on the locking flange by releasing the connector safety catch.

-- Equipment levels with parking heater: Disengage the connector -3- for the parking heater metering pump at the locking flange and lay it aside.

WARNING:

Very hot fuel can burn your skin.

In extreme cases the temperature of the fuel lines and/or the fuel can go up to 100 °C. Let the fuel cool down before opening any line connections otherwise there is a danger of scalding.
Wear safety gloves
Wear protective eyewear.

There is a risk of injury because the fuel is under high pressure.

To reduce pressure in fuel system, lay a clean cloth around the connector and carefully loosen connector.

-- Equipment levels with parking heater: Loosen the hose clamp and remove the fuel line -3- to the parking heater metering pump on the locking flange.

-- Press the release button and disconnect the fuel lines -1 and 2- from the locking flange.

WARNING:

-- Remove the locking ring using the Wrench - Fuel Sending Unit:T10202 .

-- Pull the locking flange -3- out of the fuel tank opening just a little.

-- Remove seal -1- on the opening in the fuel tank.

-- Carefully pull the locking flange with the fuel line -2- as far as possible out of the fuel tank opening.

-- Reach through the opening in the fuel tank and disconnect the suction jet line -1- by pressing the release on the connecting piece.

-- Reach through the opening in the fuel tank, release the delivery line at the retainers -2 and 3- and remove it from the fuel delivery unit.

WARNING:

There is a risk of fuel leaking out from the filled fuel delivery unit.

Lay cloths below to catch the leaking fuel.

-- Turn the tilt the fuel delivery unit with the fuel level sensor and remove through the opening in the fuel tank.

NOTE:

Be careful when removing the fuel delivery unit that you do not bend the floater arm on the fuel level sensor.

-- Pull the locking flange -1- out of the fuel tank opening just a little.

-- Remove the seal -2- on the fuel tank opening.

-- Pull the locking flange with the fuel line and the electric wires as far as possible out of the opening in the fuel tank.

-- Reach through the opening in the fuel tank, release the delivery line at the retainers -2 and 3- and remove it from the fuel delivery unit.

-- Reach through the opening in the fuel tank, pull out the suction jet line -1- and disconnect it by pressing the release on the connecting piece.

WARNING:

There is a risk of fuel leaking out from the filled fuel delivery unit.

Lay cloths below to catch the leaking fuel.

-- Carefully remove the fuel lines -1 and 2- from the fuel tank opening.

-- Carefully remove the fuel delivery unit -3- with the fuel level sensor out of the fuel tank opening by turning and tilting accordingly.

NOTE:

Be careful when removing the fuel delivery unit that you do not bend the floater arm on the fuel level sensor.

-- Unclip the cover -1- off the left locking flange using Trim Removal Wedge:3409 -arrows-.

-- Remove the locking ring using the Wrench - Fuel Sending Unit:T10202 .

-- Carefully remove the Fuel Level Sensor 2 -G169- with the suction jet pump a little from the fuel tank opening.

-- Remove the seal -2- on the fuel tank opening.

-- Carefully remove the Fuel Level Sensor 2 -G169- -item 3- with the suction jet pump -1- from the fuel tank opening.

NOTE:

Be careful not to bend the floater arm on the fuel level sensor when removing it.
