Front Seat, Removing And Installing: Removing
- Follow all pyrotechnic components safety precautions, refer to PYROTECHNIC COMPONENTS SAFETY PRECAUTIONS .
- Before handling pyrotechnic components (for example, disconnecting the connector), the person handling it must "discharge static electricity". This can be done by touching the door striker, for example.
-- Disconnect the battery Ground (GND) cable with the ignition turned on, refer to BATTERY, DISCONNECTING AND CONNECTING (A3 / A3 CABRIOLET) .
-- Push the headrest into the lowest position.
-- Move the front seat all the way forward/up.
-- Remove rear bolts -1- from the seat rail.
-- Move the front seat all the way to the rear and then into its lowest position.
-- Remove front bolts -2- from the seat rail.
-- Tilt the front seat rearward.
-- Remove the expanding clip -2- and fold up the section of the carpet -1-.
-- Unclip the cable holder -3-.

-- Remove The Connectors In The Specified Order From The Connector Station To Do This Release The Retaining Tabs: refer to figure above Fig 1.

-- Connect Airbag Lockout Adapter :VAS6282 connector to the side airbag harness connector, refer to AIRBAG ADAPTER, CONNECTING AND DISCONNECTING .
The connector station is located in the vehicle floor sill panel under the front seat area.
Connector assignment, refer to the appropriate Wiring Diagram.
-- To protect the sill panel before prying out the front seat install the Universal Vehicle Protector :VAS871 001 as shown in the illustration.
-- Remove the front seat from the vehicle with a second technician.
