Clutch, SACHS Assembly Overview: Notes

CAUTION:
For this clutch, thrust plate and clutch disc can only be replaced together.

- Clutch Module
- Removing and installing, refer to CLUTCH MODULE
- Shaft Seal
- For the dual mass flywheel
- Pulling out, refer to REMOVING THE SHAFT SEAL FROM THE DUAL MASS FLYWHEEL
- Driving in, refer to INSTALLING THE SHAFT SEAL INTO THE DUAL MASS FLYWHEEL
- Needle Bearing
- For the dual mass flywheel
- Different versions, refer to CHECKING THE NEEDLE BEARING INSIDE THE DUAL MASS FLYWHEEL ON A 4-CYLINDER TDI VEHICLE: VEHICLE (EXCEPT ON THE 125 KW TDI)
- Checking and replacing if necessary, refer to CHECKING THE NEEDLE BEARING INSIDE THE DUAL MASS FLYWHEEL ON A 4-CYLINDER TDI VEHICLE: VEHICLE (EXCEPT ON THE 125 KW TDI)
- Removing, refer to REMOVING THE NEEDLE BEARING FROM THE DUAL MASS FLYWHEEL
- Installing, refer to INSTALLING THE DUAL MASS FLYWHEEL NEEDLE BEARING NOTE:
- Always replace the needle bearing if the input shaft is damaged, refer to note DUAL MASS FLYWHEEL NEEDLE BEARING, SACHS AND LUK .
- Depending on the version of the needle bearing installed that have rollers or needle bearings missing every 4th roller. This does not mean that the needle bearing is faulty.
- Dual-Mass Flywheel
- With transfer plate
- Make sure centering pins fit securely
- Contact surface for clutch lining must be free of grooves, oil and grease
- Removing and installing, refer to CLUTCH PRESSURE PLATE AND CLUTCH PLATE, SACHS
- Check the plastic washer inside the dual mass flywheel. Refer to CHECK THE PLASTIC WASHER -A- INSIDE THE DUAL MASS FLYWHEEL MANUFACTURED BY SACHS
- Measure the wear on the plastic washer. Refer to MEASURING THE WEAR ON THE PLASTIC WASHER INSIDE THE DUAL MASS FLYWHEEL MANUFACTURED BY SACHS
- Clutch Plate
- Removing and installing, refer to CLUTCH PRESSURE PLATE AND CLUTCH PLATE, SACHS
- Installed position: Getriebeseite (transmission side) faces the pressure plate
- The spring pack (coil springs), if equipped, to the pressure plate
- Pressure Plate
- Self-adjusting
- Identification, refer to HOW TO RECOGNIZE MANUFACTURED BY SACHS
- The pressure plate and clutch plate can only be replaced together.
- Removing and installing, refer to CLUTCH PRESSURE PLATE AND CLUTCH PLATE, SACHS
- Pressure plate, checking for distortion CLUTCH PRESSURE PLATE, CHECKING FOR DISTORTION, CRACKS AND BURN MARKS
- Checking ends of the diaphragm spring, refer to CHECKING ENDS OF THE DIAPHRAGM SPRING
- Check the pull-springs and rivet connections. Refer to CHECKING THE PULL-SPRINGS AND RIVET CONNECTION
- Check the metal ring. Refer to CHECKING THE METAL RING
- Contact surface for clutch lining must be free of grooves, oil and grease
- Bolt
- 22 Nm plus an additional 90° turn
- Always replace
- For mount the pressure plate to the dual mass flywheel
- Loosen or tighten according to assembly instructions, refer to CLUTCH PRESSURE PLATE AND CLUTCH PLATE, SACHS
