Radiator, Removing And Installing: Removing
-- Remove The Front Noise Insulation. Refer To NOISE INSULATION, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
-- Remove The Impact Member. Refer To IMPACT MEMBER, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
-- Remove The Charge Air Cooler. Refer To CHARGE AIR COOLER, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
Vehicles With Version 2 Refrigerant Pipes:
-- Remove The Condenser. Refer To CONDENSER, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
Audi A4 Vehicles
-- Remove The Right Headlamp. Refer To HEADLAMP, REMOVING AND INSTALLING [A5 COUPE] .
-- In Vehicles With A Headlamp Washer System, Remove The Right Headlamp Washer System Spray Nozzle. Refer To SPRAY NOZZLES, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
-- Disconnect The Connector -1- On The Passenger Side Front Airbag Crash Sensor - G284-. Refer To DRIVER FRONT AIRBAG CRASH SENSOR -G283-, REMOVING AND INSTALLING (Removing and installing is identical for the left and right sides.) .
-- Remove The Bolts -1 And 2-.
-- Unclip The Right Headlamp Mount In Direction Of -Arrows- And Remove It.
All Vehicles
-- Place the :VAS6208 under the engine.
-- Remove The Drain Plug -1- And Allow The Coolant To Drain.
-- Remove The Coolant Hose -2- From The Radiator By Raising The Clip.
There Is A Risk Of Injury If The Radiator Fan Turns On By Itself.
- Disconnect The Connectors Before Working Near The Fan Shroud.
-- Remove The Radiator Fan Connector -1- From The Bracket And Disconnect It By Sliding The Retainer Back In Direction Of -Arrow- And Pressing The Release Down.
-- Remove The Lock Carrier Cover. Refer To LOCK CARRIER COVER, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
-- Remove the bolts -arrows-.
-- Remove the connections -1 and 2- from the radiator by removing the clip.
-- Remove the air duct -1- and intermediate flange -2-.
Vehicles with Dual-Clutch/Multitronic Transmissions:
-- Place the :SMN372500 under the separating point.
Follow The Rules For Clean Working Conditions When Working On The Transmission. Refer To GUIDELINES FOR CLEAN WORKING CONDITIONS .
-- Remove The Bolts -Arrows- And Disconnect The ATF Lines From The Radiator.
To Prevent ATF From Leaking, Secure All ATF Lines To The Top Of The Longitudinal Member.
Seal Off Any Open Lines And Connections With Clean Plugs From The :VAS6122 To Prevent Dirt From Getting In.
All Vehicles
-- Release The Retaining Tabs In Direction Of -A Arrows- And Remove The Left And Right Air Ducts -1- In Direction Of -arrow B-.
-- Release The Left And Right Radiator Retaining Pins And Remove By Pulling Upward In Direction Of -arrows-.
-- Remove the left and right bolts -1- and remove the radiator bracket with the radiator from the lock carrier in direction of -arrow-.
-- Lower the radiator slightly.
Vehicles With Refrigerant Lines, Version 1:
There Is A Risk Of Damaging The Condenser And Refrigerant Lines And Hoses.
- Do not bend, twist or stretch the refrigerant lines and hoses.
-- Have a second technician release the clips -1- in the direction of -arrow A- and remove the condenser -2- upward out of the mounts on the radiator in direction of -B arrows-.
-- With the lines connected, tip the condenser forward.
Continuation For All Vehicles:
-- Remove the radiator.
-- Press the fan shroud left and right locking tabs at the same time in direction of -arrow- and remove the fan shroud upward from the radiator.
