Installation is done is reverse order, observe the following:

-- Clean the connection pipes -C- and -E- leading to the evaporator and the expansion valve connections, and check for damage.

NOTE:

The expansion valve is available in different versions (same housing but a different control characteristic). Therefore, to ensure the exact allocation.

Follow the instructions for installing the O-rings. Refer to REFRIGERANT CIRCUIT SEALS .

-- Replace the O-ring seals -B- and -F-. Allocate correct version.

-- Coat the O-ring seals lightly with refrigerant oil before installing. Refer to REFRIGERANT CIRCUIT SEALS .

-- Make sure the retaining plate -D- fits correctly on the connection pipes -C- and -E- leading to the evaporator.

-- Tighten the bolts -G-.

-- Install the refrigerant line with inner heat exchanger. Refer to REFRIGERANT LINES WITH INNER HEAT EXCHANGER, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Evacuate the refrigerant circuit and fill it. Refer to USING SERVICE STATION . For additional information, refer to OVERVIEW - REFRIGERANT CIRCUIT, NOT OPENING THE REFRIGERANT CIRCUIT, VEHICLES WITHOUT HIGH VOLTAGE SYSTEM  and OVERVIEW - REFRIGERANT CIRCUIT, OPENING THE REFRIGERANT CIRCUIT, VEHICLES WITHOUT HIGH VOLTAGE SYSTEM  (Refrigerant R134a, Servicing; Refrigerant Circuit, Using Service Station).

On vehicles with a high voltage system (hybrid vehicles)

-- Visually inspect the high voltage components -D- and high voltage cables -E- after completing the work procedures and before installing the plenum chamber cover -B-. Refer to HIGH VOLTAGE SYSTEM GENERAL WARNINGS .

-- Electrical connections and routing. Refer to the appropriate SYSTEM WIRING DIAGRAM.

-- Energize the power supply to the high voltage system. Refer to HIGH VOLTAGE SYSTEM, RE-ENERGIZING .

All vehicles

-- Install the remaining removed components.

-- Turn on the ignition.

-- Check the DTC memory for the Climatronic Control Module -- display and control head and erase any displayed malfunctions, if necessary using the Vehicle Diagnostic Tester in the "Guided Fault Finding" function.

-- Operate the A/C system after filling the refrigerant circuit. Refer to A/C SYSTEM, STARTING OPERATION AFTER FILLING REFRIGERANT CIRCUIT .

NOTE:

Observe the information regarding operating the A/C system after filling. Refer to A/C SYSTEM, OPERATING AFTER CHARGING , (Refrigerant R134a, Servicing; A/C System, General Information). After charging the A/C system before activating the A/C system.
