Install in reverse order of removal. Note the following:

NOTE:

There is a quantity of refrigerant oil in the removed A/C compressor, therefore observe the notes for replacing the A/C compressor. Refer to REFRIGERANT CIRCUIT COMPONENTS, REPLACING and A/C COMPRESSOR, REMOVING AND INSTALLING, MECHANICALLY-DRIVEN A/C COMPRESSOR, Vehicles with 2.0L Gas  (Refrigerant R134a, Servicing; Refrigerant Circuit Components, Replacing).

Before installing the A/C compressor. Refer to A/C SYSTEM, GENERAL INFORMATION (Refrigerant R134a, Servicing; A/C System, General Information).

-- Turn the A/C compressor by hand 10 rotations before installing the ribbed belt on the pulley (to prevent damage to the compressor when it is first switched on).

-- Install the A/C compressor on the bracket. Refer to A/C COMPRESSOR, REMOVING AND INSTALLING ON BRACKET .

-- Attach the refrigerant lines to the A/C compressor. Refer to REFRIGERANT LINES, DISCONNECTING AND CONNECTING AT A/C COMPRESSOR .

NOTE:

Coat the O-ring seals lightly with refrigerant oil prior to installation. Refer to REFRIGERANT CIRCUIT SEALS .

Rotating will prevent damage to the A/C compressor when starting the engine for the first from refrigerant oil that may be located in the compression chamber.

-- Evacuate the refrigerant circuit and fill it. Refer to USING SERVICE STATION . For additional information, refer to OVERVIEW - REFRIGERANT CIRCUIT, NOT OPENING THE REFRIGERANT CIRCUIT, VEHICLES WITHOUT HIGH VOLTAGE SYSTEM  and OVERVIEW - REFRIGERANT CIRCUIT, OPENING THE REFRIGERANT CIRCUIT, VEHICLES WITHOUT HIGH VOLTAGE SYSTEM  (Refrigerant R134a, Servicing; Refrigerant Circuit, Using Service Station).

-- Install the remaining removed components.

-- Turn on the ignition.

-- Check the DTC memory for the Climatronic Control Module -- display and control head and erase any displayed malfunctions, if necessary using the Vehicle Diagnostic Tester in the "Guided Fault Finding  " function.

-- Operate the A/C system after filling the refrigerant circuit. Refer to A/C SYSTEM, STARTING OPERATION AFTER FILLING REFRIGERANT CIRCUIT .

NOTE:

Observe the information regarding operating the A/C system after filling. Refer to A/C SYSTEM, OPERATING AFTER CHARGING , (Refrigerant R134a, Servicing; A/C System, General Information). After charging the A/C system before activating the A/C system.
