Knee Airbag With Igniter, Removing And Installing, Driver Side: Removing

WARNING:

Follow all safety precautions when working with pyrotechnic components. Refer to SAFETY PRECAUTIONS .
Follow all regulations when disposing of pyrotechnic components. Refer to AIRBAG, BELT TENSIONER AND BATTERY CUT-OUT UNITS, STORING, TRANSPORTING AND DISPOSING (PYROTECHNIC COMPONENTS) .

-- Disconnect the battery ground cable with the ignition turned on. Refer to BATTERY .

-- Remove the instrument panel cover on the driver side. Refer to DRIVER SIDE INSTRUMENT PANEL COVER, REMOVING AND INSTALLING, VEHICLE WITH KNEE AIRBAGS .

WARNING:

Before handling pyrotechnic components (for example, disconnecting the connector), the person handling it must "discharge static electricity". For example, this can be done by briefly touching the door striker.

-- Disconnect the connector -3-.

-- Pull the retainer -2- in the direction of the -arrow- and disconnect the connector -1- and -3-.

-- Remove the bolts -1, 4, 5 and 8-.

-- Disengage the driver side knee airbag from the hook -2- and the tab -7- and remove it downward.

-- Lay the driver side knee airbag so the padding faces up.
